Days of Our Lives storyline has already revealed that AnnaLynne McCord's Abigail is an impostor planted for an ulterior motive. This leaves the option that the real Abigail might be alive somewhere.
Before AnnaLynne joined the soap's cast, Abigail was played by Marci Miller. As such, if AnnaLynne is not playing the real Abigail, Marci remains the actor to play the character. Moreover, the storyline now has a lead to bring Marci Miller back into the show as the real Abby.
Longtime viewers of Days of Our Lives know that the soap has had twists that left characters out in the cold for some time before bringing them back.

Days of Our Lives: What cues hint at Marci Miller's return to the soap?
As mentioned before, AnnaLynne's Abigail turned out to be a fraudster pretending to be the real Abigail. She is shown to be forced by Clyde to get close to Chad. This leaves the storyline open to the assumption that the real Abby may still be alive. Clyde may be holding her captive or has information about her whereabouts. Hence, Marci Miller's Abigail may return to the soap when the plot brings back the real Abby.

Moreover, an old photograph of Chad and Miller's Abby has been the focus of the plot. While the impostor already has access to her things and had mouthed the actual Abby's wedding vows to convince Chad she is the real one, the close-up shot on Miller's photograph may be a set up for her future return to the soap.
In the past, Abby has been played by Kate Mansi and Marci Miller. However, Kate Mansi is busy playing Kristen in General Hospital and may not join Days of Our Lives. That leaves Miller to reprise the role when it's time.
Moreover, AnnaLynne has a one-year contract with the soap. By then, the imposter's identity will be revealed along with the scheme that she and Mark are part of.

Which story arc caused the entry of the impostor on Days of Our Lives?
The plot in 2022 found Abby seemingly being killed in an explosion while she was working on a big story. While her body was missing, Clyde Weston was held responsible for her death. After Clyde insisted he didn't kill her, he provided Chad DiMera with various clues. The clues led Chad and Jack Devereaux to the woman who had Abby's bracelet.
On one hand, the woman pretended to have had facial surgery and suffer from amnesia, and on the other, Dr. Mark faked her DNA reports claiming she was the real Abby Devereaux-DiMera. While the audience already knows her as an impostor, Chad and the other residents of Salem think the woman is Abby.
Whether the real Abby will return and expose the fake one, or whether the exposure of fake Abigail will lead to a rescue mission for Miller's Abby, remains to be seen.
