Morgan Corinthos on the ABC soap opera General Hospital was played by Bryan Craig when the character was written off the show in 2016. In 2018 the actor returned to the show for a guest appearance and has been off the role for over 6 years now.
Recently, Bryan Craig returned to General Hospital as Morgan Cornithos for just one episode which was aired on August 6, 2024. Though his return was a brief one, it showed the emotional scenes between the son and his father Sonny.
The actor has won two Daytime Emmys for his role on GH and in an interview on August 5, 2024, with Soap Opera Digest he mentioned that he was glad to receive this opportunity to return to the show once again.
“I feel very privileged,” Craig said.

First appeared on October 24, 2003, and was played by several child actors until Aaron Refvem took over the role in 2009 for one year, followed by Aaron Sanders from 2010 to 2011. Bryan Craig returns as Morgan Corinthos to General Hospital
In 2013, Bryan Craig first appeared on General Hospital as Morgan Corinthos. He was then shown living with his girlfriend Kiki Jerome and her mother Ava Jerome in New York City. His return to Port Charles brought up new challenges and problems in his relationship with his brother Michael and Kiki.
While recalling his exit from the show Bryan states to Soap Opera Digest:
“I’m very grateful because I love working with Maurice and I love what we did towards the end of that run. It was so fun to be asked back and to be able to come back to further that storyline a little bit years later.”
Morgan when he exited the show in 2016 was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Following this it was shown that he drove away in Julian Jerome’s car that had been planted with a bomb for Julian. As Morgan drove away in it, the car exploded and led to the presumed death of Morgan.
This remains the second return of Bryan Craig as Morgan on the show as he first re-appeared in the imagination of his ex-lover Ava back in 2018.
While describing his feelings about the return to General Hospital after six long years, Bryan mentioned how Maurice Benard (the actor who plays Sonny) stayed in touch with him throughout.
“Nothing over there at the studio has really changed. I mean, some stuff has changed a little bit, but it was the craziest thing, going on the set because none of my former co-stars had changed at all!” said Craig.
Morgan’s encounter with Sonny remains to some specific storylines as Sonny has been struggling with the stress of the custodial battle of Avery with Ava. His daughter Kristen falling from the Metro Court Hotel, and also has not been medicated properly for his bipolar disorder.
Craig's recent appearance on General Hospital in 2024 shows him stopping Sonny Corinthos from making the wrong decision to end his life. Sonny was standing on the ledge thinking that he was the cause of all the problems in his loved ones' lives and all he brought to them was misery.
Morgan calms him down and makes his father understand that all his kids love him and they need him no matter what. It could be that Sonny has done many wrong things in his past, but still, he has been a loving father who did everything he could to protect his kids.
Bryan at that time wasn’t so sure of what his storyline would be as Morgan has gone through several phases including a lover or bipolar. He told Soap Opera Digest:
“I was just kind of prepared whatever the director said they wanted to go with, because there are so many different ways it could have gone, depending on how they wanted it to fit into the scenes.”
While talking about the shoot of the scene after his return, Bryan mentioned:
“The stuff we filmed went great. It was really powerful, and we were both really in it. [Benard] was really happy with it.”
