Johnny Wactor, the actor best known for his role as Brando Corbin on the long-running soap opera General Hospital, tragically lost his life while protecting a female colleague from armed robbers.
Grant Wactor, Johnny's youngest sibling, confirmed the devastating news of his demise to the Daily Mail, on May 27, 2024.
According to Grant, Johnny and his colleague were walking towards the parked car, where the actor initially thought that his car was being towed. Upon asking, the thieves pointed the gun at them and shot Johnny when he put himself in front of his female coworker. Grant said:
"And then, once he turned around, he saw what was happening, and he put his coworker behind him. And that's when they shot him."
The incident occurred on May 25, 2024, around 03:25 AM local time. According to Wactor's family, he used to do side gigs as a bartender and was walking back from his shift, when the robbers were trying to steal the catalytic converter.

"We're Southern, born and raised, and we would never let a female walk to their car by herself."
Johnny and his colleague had to park the car about two blocks from the restaurant as the area was mostly crowded. Grant also confirmed that Johnny Wactor was shot in the chest and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly.
Johnny's brother was informed by the police that the General Hospital actor was not engaged in a fight with the thieves, but was backing himself while protecting the female coworker.
Reportedly, the suspects were wearing masks and fled the scene in another vehicle. Los Angeles Police Department said they do not have further information, but the investigation is currently being pursued.
While talking about Johnny Wactor, Grant said that he was the "most hard-working person." He had the same charismatic personality in real as in movies.
"My brother was probably the hardest working person I've ever met in my life. He was a great brother and son. Anyone he touched, he made a great impact. He was as charismatic in real life as he was on camera. And he was always genuine, through and through."
The brother further expressed his hope for justice and conveyed gratitude that this incident is being publicly acknowledged. He added:
"I hope they are able to track the people who did this. I am glad in a way that this is getting the publicity so that it could shed some light that things need to change or find ways so that no one else has to experience this - whether it be a murder or being at the wrong place at the wrong time."
Furthermore, Johnny's grandmother expressed her grief and disbelief at the incident. She commented:
"We are completely devastated. He was just walking to his car. It's senseless."
