37-year-old actor Johnny Wactor, known for his role as Brando Corbin in popular TV Soap General Hospital, has passed away after being shot in the streets of Los Angeles on May 25. Wactor's representative confirmed the news to Variety magazine on Sunday, May 26.
As per local reports, police officials had revealed that he was allegedly shot at around 3 am on Saturday night during an attempted robbery. Three suspects had tried to steal the catalytic converter from his car near the intersection between Hope Street and Pico Boulevard when one of them fired a gun at Johnny Wactor, according to Los Angeles Police.
A catalytic converter is one of the many car parts that is usually targeted by thieves for its high-resale value due to the rare metals found inside. The shooting was fatal and Johnny was pronounced dead by medical officials after he was rushed to a hospital by paramedics from the scene.
All three suspects fled the scene and remain at large. The actor's mother, Scarlett Wactor, hopes the police find those responsible as soon as possible.
