One of the crew members of The Bold and the Beautiful recently passed away in an accident. Jack Kidd Jr, who was the head grip on the soap, reportedly died at the age of 60 on July 25, 2024.

Kidd was initially reported missing from his home in Canyon County on July 25 but was discovered dead on the same day. He was involved in an accident on Little Tujunga Road, and found by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Department.

His pickup truck was discovered crashed at the bottom of the mountainside below the Little Tujunga Canyon Road. Search and rescue officials reported to the scene in the hope of extraction but found Jack Kidd Jr lifeless. The authorities suspect no foul play in this incident.


Tributes pour in for Jack Kidd Jr

Jack Kidd Jr passed away at the age of 60 on July 25, 2024. He met with an accident on Little Tujunga Road after being declared missing by the local police.

He was born in Artesia in 1964, attended school there, and also became part of his school band as a trumpet player. The Bold and the Beautiful production designer Jack Forrestel spoke about his co-worker Kidd in a comment to a post on Facebook.

"Jack was the best I have come across in my 40 years as an art director ... I’m struggling to understand and to express my feelings at this great loss to me personally, and to my Art director, Fabrice Kenwood, who shares the trust and love that Jack showed us in his fine work."

Forrestel also sent his condolences to Kidd's family in their time of grief and mourning. Kidd is survived by his mother Virginia and sister Janine. He also has three children Ally, Erin, and Jackson, whom he shares with his wife Missy.

Another colleague, Tim Neubieser also commented on the Facebook post and said:

"Jack was my lead man for 2 years on Y&R. This news is shocking. He had such a great attitude towards us all. We used to talk baseball all the time. I wanted to steal him from CBS to come work legit with me. He was skilled and talented both. We lost a very good man today. Love and condolences to his family."

What was Jack Kidd Jr's role on The Bold and the Beautiful?

Jack Kidd Jr was one of the senior crew members on The Bold and the Beautiful. He was the head grip on the crew. The grip team is in charge of building and operating equipment on a set. Mostly, they are responsible for camera and lighting equipment including dollies, cranes, essential gear, and sometimes even set structures.

Kidd joined The Bold and the Beautiful crew in 2014. He also previously worked in the grip team for other television and reality shows such as Survivor and Real Time with Bill Mather.

He started his career as an employee in the IATSE Local in 1990 and also became a board member at the institution. Then, he moved to the Television City Studios in 1995. Throughout his career, he mainly worked in Los Angeles with various theatres and production houses.

In a statement to Deadline on July 29, Kidd's family members mentioned that he was very dedicated to his work on The Bold and the Beautiful. They remembered him by saying that he was a helpful and kind person to have as a co-worker.


A fundraising campaign has begun for Jack Kidd Jr's family and has raised around 30,000 dollars after Kidd's demise.
