Wayne Northrop, best known for his portrayal of the detective Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives has died at the age of 77. The actor’s wife, Lynn Herring Northrop confirmed the news of Wayne’s passing to People Magazine on December 1 and stated that in his last moments, he was surrounded by family.

The statement read:

“He took his last breath in the arms of his family. We wish to thank the most caring and amazing place, the Motion Picture and Television Home for taking such great care of him. Wayne touched so many people with his sense of humour and wit. A husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many.”

As per the publication, Wayne Northrop passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, in the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home. While the family members have not revealed the cause of Northrop’s passing away, it is known that he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s six years ago.


Wayne Northrop appeared on more than 1,000 episodes of Days of Our Lives

Wayne Northrop, born in 1947, was best known for his soap operas, especially, Days of Our Lives. Having played the role of Roman Brady on the show, Wayne appeared on more than 1,000 episodes of the show, as he played the character from 1981 to 1984, and then again from 1991 to 1994. Furthermore, he reappeared in the show in 2005, with a new character, named Dr. Alex North.

First seen in the show in 1981, Wayne’s entry as Roman Brady was loved by the masses when he made his way into the show to protect Marlena Evans from a serial killer. Since then, the character has become a regular on the show.

Apart from Days of Our Lives, Wayne Northrop was also seen in other shows like Dynasty, in which he played the role of Michael Culhane in 1981, and then again in 1986.

Furthermore, having started his career in acting with Police Story in 1975, Wayne was also seen as Rexford Stanton in Port Charles in 1997. Furthermore, the actor was also seen in a number of episodes of L.A. Law, Hotel, and even Cold Case.

Talking about his personal life, Wayne tied the knot with actress Lynn Herring in 1981, and the duo welcomed two sons, Hank Wayne, in 1991 and Grady Lee in 1993.

Furthermore, social media is now filled with messages and tributes from fans, friends, and colleagues, as people on the internet continue to mourn Wayne Northrop’s death. However, at the moment, the family has not revealed details about his funeral and memorial service.
