“Robert would have been much better off” - General Hospital fans unimpressed with Holly’s antics in current storyline

Since General Hospital's premiere in 1963, it has continued entertaining audiences and holds a place in television history as one of the longest-running soap operas. The suspenseful plots, dramatic romances, and large variety of complex characters have kept viewers on the edge of their seats for decades.

It also hosts popular characters, including Robert Scorpio. He is played by Tristan Rogers, who depicts him as a tough yet compassionate spy dedicated to justice. This explains why fans of the show loved him so much. However, the current storyline concerning Robert's love life appears to keep landing him in never-ending complications.

In this recent storyline, Robert's love for Holly Sutton, to whom he had been devoted so long, had dragged him into schemes, once more this time risking his safety and pitting him against his principles. This has garnered mixed reactions from fans, and most of them are visibly disappointed with what awaits Robert and Holly.

While some people enjoy the twists and turns of the plot, others feel it cheapens Robert's character at times when he is paired with yet another character whose schemes put him and those around him at risk.

In a more obvious sense, fans are invested in seeing Robert become established, and it isn't likely they would hold back on their opinions if they felt he was getting taken advantage of.

"Robert would have been much better off if Holly would have stayed in Africa. I don’t believe that Robert is Sasha’s father as I think Holly lied about it because she knew that Robert would protect Sasha if he knew she was his daughter." said one fan on Facebook

They further added:

"Holly knows her way around the WSB to have the DNA results altered and she could have easily given someone on the inside of the WSB a couple of diamonds to have the DNA results altered before she gave them to Sonny."

Further adding to the comment they said:

"I don’t believe that Sasha and Cody are even cousins and I wouldn’t even be surprised if Holly is lying about being Sasha’s mother. Cody and Sasha need to get a DNA test done of their own."

They ended by saying:

"I am so glad that Alexis has Sonny to lean on and I hope and pray that when the dust settles, the writers don’t have Alexis turn to the bottle since she has come so far."

Will Robert finally break free from Holly’s influence on General Hospital?

Fans have seen the romance grow between Robert and Holly through the years, but nowadays, fans wonder if it's time that Robert lets go of this woman. As Holly gets deadlier with her schemes, it is clear that her presence is not affecting just the life of Robert but also those of his loved ones.

Robert's integrity and strength should make him more stable, yet here he is in a cycle of forgiveness, tolerating Holly, but also entering into risky partnerships. Fans can only hope that someday he will be able to catch his breath and find someone stable.

The major disappointment in the series is his loyalty which keeps on piling him with precarious situations, getting his career and even those around him thrown under the bus. His recent troubles with Holly-there have been diamond heists and dangerous criminals, pull Robert into tight situations.

Though fans appreciate the work he displays, many fans feel it is high time for him to have a storyline wherein he could be a hero without giving up on his values or getting hurt.

Relieving himself from Holly would finally allow him to grow in a different direction and present new looks for the fans of his character.
