Fans of the soap on social media platforms like Facebook have been itching for Heather's killer to be revealed. Many hope that the revelation will finally make Phyllis realise that Sharon is innocent:
However, some fans also supported Phyllis and her reactions, reminding others that she does not possess the facts that the audience does, and might be naturally hoping for justice:
A fan theorized that Heather might not even be dead and simply held prisoner somewhere secret by Genoa City's resident villains Ian and Jordan (though this theory has not been explored by the soap officially yet):
What is the reason for the conflict between Phyllis and Sharon on The Young and the Restless?
Phyllis and Sharon have been at odds for a while on The Young and the Restless, since after the mysterious murder of Heather Stevens. It all started when Sharon initially thought she was responsible for Heather's death. After breaking into the Romalotti house and getting into a physical confrontation with Heather, Sharon blacked out. When she regained consciousness, she found Heather dead with a serious bleeding head injury.
In a panic, Sharon tried to cover her tracks. She cleaned up the scene, hid the evidence in one of Daniel's cabinets, and disposed of Heather's body in a nearby river. The blame ultimately fell on Daniel, Heather's partner, and Phyllis' son, when the evidence was discovered.
After Daniel's arrest, Phyllis grew suspicious of Sharon and was convinced that her former rival was the one who killed Heather and framed Daniel for revenge. Just when Phyllis was about to confront Sharon, she got into a car crash and ended up in a coma. Sharon thought she was somehow responsible for this accident too, and confessed the circumstances of the situation to her ex, Nick Newman.
Nick jumped to Sharon's support by hiring Michael Baldwin as Sharon’s defense attorney and arranging a toxicology test for her bipolar medication, convinced that someone was tampering with it. This turned out to be true since the test revealed that Sharon's pills had been laced with PCP, causing her hallucinations and blackouts.
Still determined, Sharon went through hypnosis and then realized she hadn’t killed Heather. Instead, someone else had been in the house that night and had attacked both her and Heather. Michael revealed this revelation to Phyllis since he has been her longtime friend on the soap.
However, Phyllis has remained adamant that Sharon must be lying about this development. She even showed up at Sharon's house and argued with the family, claiming that Sharon was just making up stories to avoid blame. Sharon, however, is now standing her ground, insisting that she didn’t kill Heather.
