Who plays the new Emma Drake on General Hospital?

Braedyn Bruner now plays Emma Drake on General Hospital, starting with the December 23, 2024 episode. She replaces Brooklyn Rae Silzer, who portrayed Emma until 2023. Born on October 9, 2000, near Dallas, Texas, Braedyn was interested in activities like soccer, journalism, and singing. She began acting at five and has been working in the industry ever since.

On December 24, 2024, the actress posted on Instagram to share her excitement about joining the General Hospital family. In her post, she expressed how honored she felt to be part of the soap opera’s legacy and thanked fans for their warm reception.

Her role as Emma Drake, a young college student living in Port Charles, is set to explore compelling storylines, including her family dynamics and friendships while honoring the legacy of the Drake-Scorpio families.

Why did Brooklyn Rae Silzer exit the show?

Brooklyn Rae Silzer, who played Emma Drake on General Hospital from 2011 to 2023, talked about leaving the show and the recent recast of her character in a message on X on December 23, 2024.

“To my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma, I am forever grateful. Although sad my time as Emma has come to an end, I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made,” she wrote.

Silzer expressed her enthusiasm for her replacement, Braedyn Bruner, by saying, “I am so excited to see how Braedyn takes care of Emma and brings new layers to her character.”

She concluded her note with heartfelt thanks to the show, saying, “I am forever thankful for General Hospital, and Emma will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Silzer’s decision to leave the show aligns with her real-life decision to focus on nursing school, as she revealed in a 2023 interview with Soap Opera Digest.

Talking about her final scenes, she explained, “It was cool to play a smarter character and to [find out] she’s working in a lab, since that’s something I obviously want to do in real life. It was just cool to see how they’re developing Emma’s character.”

Silzer started acting in the show when she was only five years old. Her first appearance was on July 29, 2011, playing the daughter of Robin Scorpio-Drake (played by Kimberly McCullough) and Patrick Drake (played by Jason Thompson).

As time went by, her performance was widely praised, and in 2016, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.
