The Young and the Restless will be celebrating an anniversary of 13,000 episodes this week on Wednesday. In the storyline, the characters in Genoa City will be meeting up at Abby and Devon's wedding to celebrate new beginnings.
Many of the soap's familiar faces are set to return for the celebration episode in brief appearances. This includes actress Eileen Davidson, reprising her role as Ashley Abbott.
Many fans took to social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to appreciate the character's return to screen. One posted:
"Thank Fod Ashley is home. ..."
Ashley's character hasn't returned to the screen in a while, making fans charged up to see her in Genoa City again:
Audience members also took a moment to appreciate actress Eileen Davidson and her portrayal of the character over the years:
Overall, fans seem happy that the storyline is titling towards a cheerful set of episodes. This might especially be after fans have been on the edge of their seats following the aftermath of Heather Stevens' murder case:
Who is Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless?
Ashley Abbott is the daughter of Dina Mergeron and Brent Davis on the soap. For most of her life, Ashley was raised by John Abbott, resulting in her initial belief that he was her biological father.
Ashley has had a significant relationship with Victor Newman earlier in the storyline, and the two characters are the parents of Abby Newman. With Abby's upcoming wedding, Ashley's return to town for the ceremony was inevitable.
The character has most prominently been portrayed by actress Eileen Davidson, who still plays the role. Although, Davidson has been on and off on the soap. In 2006, she exited to make a crossover to the sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful, where she took over a brief role at Forrester Creations. In 2008, the character returned to The Young and the Restless.
In 2012, Eileen Davidson exited the soap again. It was revealed that her contract was terminated, and she took up a role as Kristen DiMera on Days of Our Lives, a character she had been cast as in the past. She returned as a series regular in 2014 after guest appearances in 2013. In 2018, Davidson exited the soap once more.
Since 2019, the actress and her character Ashley have featured on the soap in a recurring capacity. Much like her current appearance for the 13,000th-episode celebration, Ashley has only made brief cameos and guest appearances in the storyline.
Audiences can watch the soap streaming online via CBS and Paramount+. New episodes are released on all weekdays.
