For the past few months on The Young and the Restless, Victor Newman and Billy Abbott have been nursing an enmity with each other, primarily over the company Abbott-Chancellor. Billy was handed over leadership by his ailing mother Jill before she left town to seek treatment.
Billy made a few poor choices while running the company, including firing a longtime employee Lily Winters. Angry, hurt, and looking for revenge against Billy, Lily decided to team up with Victor and take Chancellor down for him. Victor promised Lily the post of CEO in exchange for her help. Parallelly, Billy hired Phyllis Summers as part of the company.
Slowly, Victor started chipping away at Billy's hold on Chancellor with Lily's help. Finally, this series of events coaxed Jill into returning to Genoa City to take over from her son.
