The Young and the Restless: How can Nick detect Sharon's guilt?

As Mariah has pointed out, Nick Newman, played by Joshua Morrow, knows his former wife, Sharon, the best. They have known each other for a long time and Nick would be the best judge of any difference in Sharon's behavior. Moreover, as mentally disturbed as Sharon is currently, she is likely to spill all if Nick pushes her.

What Nick would need is a nudge to look at Sharon closely. He may get the opportunity soon since Phyllis is suspicious of Sharon and would go to any length to save Daniel from being convicted of Heather's murder. Nick, who was married to Phyllis in the past, also shares a good friendship with her. As such, he is aware that Phyllis's instincts are often right.

Moreover, as much as he wants to help Sharon, soon Nick would start wondering about her whereabouts on the night Heather died. Sharon has been very evasive in her response so far. If Nick digs into Sharon's bearings and locations from the fateful night, the truth is likely to get exposed.

However, Nick is not likely to use the information to put Sharon behind bars as he has promised to protect her no matter what. Knowing how mentally unstable Sharon is, Nick would feel sorry for her and would attribute all the crimes to her mental illness.

Sharon Newman, played by Sharon Case, came unhinged after her daughter Faith, who was forced to drive a drunk Lucy, met with an accident and was injured. The incident reminded Sharon about Cassie's death when she drove a drunk Daniel Romalotti and met with an accident. The feeling escalated since Lucy is Daniel's daughter.

Sharon blames Daniel for Cassie's death and tries to kill him in revenge. When she sneaks into Daniel's house, Heather Stevens catches her, and during their altercation, Sharon accidentally pushes Heather while in a blackout.

When Sharon regains consciousness, she finds Heather dead on the floor. Believing she may have unintentionally killed her, she decides to dispose of the body and remove all evidence. The Young and the Restless depicts Sharon attempting to cover her tracks and evade the police.

In an evil twist on The Young and the Restless storyline, she planted the retrieved evidence in Daniel's home forcing an arrest of the innocent person. She hoped this would take the suspicion away from her and also help her avenge Cassie's death by hurting Daniel Romalotti. However, her mental condition has taken a hit as she has started seeing and talking to an imaginary Nick and an imaginary Heather.
