The Young and the Restless is right in the middle of a murder investigation. After the suspicious death of Heather Stevens, the residents of Genoa City are scrambling to uncover who the culprit is. For her part, Phyllis Summers seems to be convinced that her all-time rival Sharon Newman has something to do with the case.
Spoilers for the soap indicate that Phyllis and Sharon are set to have a confrontation at Crimson Lights. During the past week after Daniel's arrest, Phyllis has remained convinced that Sharon is hiding something. It seems that Daniel's mother might finally snap and goad Sharon into saying something that incriminates her.
It is also likely that Daniel might try to help his mother. Since he has pledged to bring Heather justice and certainly hopes to clear his name, Daniel might have a part to play in this confrontation too. It remains to be seen whether Phyllis' efforts actually amount to a confession of guilt from Sharon's end.

What is the story behind the murder of Heather Stevens on The Young and the Restless?
The Young and the Restless started off the Heather storyline with Sharon's spiraling mental health. Sharon never got over Daniel's involvement in the accidental death of her daughter Cassie Newman. She started blaming Daniel and nursing a spirit of vengeance against him, fuelled by hallucinations and hypothetical scenarios that she imagined. Sharon even publically lashed out at Daniel on multiple occasions, often witnessed by his girlfriend Heather.
Sharon decided to sneak into Daniel's house and poison his drink so that he could pay for Cassie's death. However, she saw a family picture and focused on Daniel's daughter Lucy when she was about to poison Daniel's liquor. Realizing what she was doing, Sharon tried to abandon her intentions and leave the house. However, hearing a noise, Heather came into the room and discovered Sharon there.
This resulted in a heated confrontation between the two women, which turned physical. At this point, Sharon blacked out. When she awoke, Sharon saw that Heather was bleeding from her head and not coming back to consciousness. Panicking, Sharon wrapped Heather's body in rags and towels, drove to the neighborhood river, and disposed of it. She then hid the remaining bloody towels in Daniel's cabinet to pin the blame on him.
When Heather's body was discovered by the police, Detective Chance Chancellor came to Daniel's house to investigate. He found the towels and Heather's phone there. He arrested Daniel, believing him responsible for Heather's death. Luckily, Daniel was granted bail almost immediately when he called Christine to be his lawyer for the case.
Now that Daniel needs to clear his name, his friends and family are working to build him an alibi and find out who is responsible for the murder. Phyllis suspects that Sharon is involved since she harbored animosity for Daniel. Christine has also suggested that the only way to win Daniel's case in court is to bring reasonable doubt of guilt on Sharon.
However, the soap has not yet confirmed for sure if Sharon is the one responsible for Heather's death. She did dispose of the body but it is unclear whether she inflicted the final blow on Heather while she was blacked out. It is also a distinct possibility that someone else entered the house while Sharon was unconscious and they were the ones who killed Heather. The showrunners of The Young and the Restless have yet to shed light on this aspect of the storyline.
