One of CBS's long-running soaps, The Young and the Restless, is poised for another chilling twist in its storyline as Sharon prepares to act on the revenge she has been contemplating for weeks. Portrayed by Sharon Case, Sharon Collins-Newman has been worrying her family about her unnatural behavior. With a history of mental illness, it is expected that her family wonders whether she is spiraling again, especially after her interactions with a dead and bloodied Cameron.

Newly indicted fans of The Young and the Restless may be unaware that the soap premiered in 1973, presenting business rivalries, transactions, and personal interactions between various families in the fictional Genoa City. Sharon's character was introduced in the storyline in 1994 and was connected to the Newman family as Nick Newman's romantic interest. Initially played by Monica Potter and Heidi Mark, Sharon Case has been playing the role for 30 years.

The twist in Sharon's latest unhinged behavior could be a well-planned pretension. Clues on The Young and the Restless storyline suggest that Sharon may not be as unhinged as her family and the audience believe. While viewers have seen her talking to the dead Cameron for the past few weeks, her family has witnessed her odd behavior. She even confessed to Faith that she was seeing both Cameron and Cassie, indicating mental health problems.

On one hand, Mariah counted pills to ensure her mother was not skipping the prescribed medicines. She also called and checked on Sharon's whereabouts. Together, Mariah and Nick realized Sharon's spiraling condition and sought ways to help her in the recent episodes of The Young and the Restless.

However, on the other hand, a conversation between Sharon and Cameron in the motel room, where she was hiding, showed that she was aware that Cameron did not exist. Whatever he says is a manifestation of her inner dark thoughts. As such, she is aware that the Cameron she speaks to is not a ghost but her inner voice.

Moreover, she has been sharp enough, so far, to cover her tracks smartly, exhibiting intelligence and alertness that contradict mental confusion. Hence, her pretensions may catch Daniel off-guard and provoke him to do something wrong.

The Young and the Restless: Why might Sharon be pretending to have mental problems?

As The Young and the Restless viewers may remember, Sharon's daughter, Cassie, died in a car crash when the 14-year-old was driving a very drunk Daniel home. Since then, Sharon has considered Daniel responsible for Cassie's death, leading to her brush with mental health issues.

When recently Daniel's daughter, Lucy, forced Sharon's daughter, Faith, to drive her home, the duo got into another road accident, bringing back old memories. Although Sharon lashed out at Daniel and Lucy, she later met Daniel and apologized. However, viewers know that she never really forgave them. She wants to hurt the father-daughter duo, believing it will bring back the happiness of her family.

There is a likelihood that Sharon has a well-thought-out plan to target Daniel. When pretending to see dead people and talking to them, she does not want to impress mental illness on her family as much as she wants Daniel to believe so. If Daniel thinks Sharon is mentally unstable and is looking to take revenge on him, he will freak out.

While Sharon will likely buy her time, a scared Daniel might do something stupid in defense. If he attacks Sharon believing her to be unhinged and vengeful, Sharon will have good reason to hurt him or kill him in self-defense. That way she can get away with destroying Daniel, avenging Cassie, and getting on with her life with Nick, Mariah, and Faith.

Stay tuned to the upcoming episodes to find out what action Sharon chooses to avenge Cassie's death and whether Nick and Mariah arrive in time to save lives on The Young and the Restless airing on CBS on weekdays. Also, watch out for actor Sharon Case's 30th anniversary celebration on the soap.
