While speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Ordway, who plays Abby Newman on the show, gave Abby's perspective on her upcoming marriage.

As per Ordway, Abby would have cold feet about her conjugal life with Devon, since she had not been lucky in love in the past. A broken marriage with Devon would mean she would lose a friend and a partner. Relating to Abby's sentiments on The Young and the Restless, actor Ordway said,

"You start thinking about things too much and you're like, 'Oh my gosh, what am I doing? This is bad. This could end terribly!' This is her one true love and he's everything that she's ever wanted, and it feels so perfect now."

Ordway explained why Abby could be worried about her approaching union.

"She loves Devon so much that she doesn't want to ruin this and make him collateral damage in her relationship mishaps."

Her past marriages with Chance Chancellor and Ben "Stitch" Rayburn had ended in disasters. While she had a miscarriage in her marriage with Stitch, she could not carry her baby during her marriage with Chance. She also had an affair with Nick Newman's friend Arturo. However, Arturo ended up having an affair and fathering the baby of his brother's wife, Mia.

Currently engaged to Devon, Abby has been overthinking and looking for patterns in her relationships. This made her fearful about her future with Devon. According to Ordway, Devon is her best friend, as well as her love. As Ordway pointed out, the duo did not argue as other couples because they were a perfect fit.
