In The Young and The Restless episode that aired on January 2, 2025, Mariah was shown shouting at Ian with everything she had to make him stop attacking unsuspecting victims in Genoa City. Her anger surfaced after she found out that he was holding Tessa captive and upon asking him to let her go, Ian tried to feign innocence.
Nick and Faith Newman, who were watching the argument ensue as bystanders, got involved as Mariah tried to get Tessa to breathe normally. Nick accused Ian of being a con man and said that he was not innocent as innocent men do not break out of prisons and harass victims.
Ian's shady defense throughout the confrontation was that he had been let go from the prison earlier than expected and that he was a chaplain. He repeatedly claimed that he was only trying to help Tessa as he saw her collapse and suffer from an asthma attack. He said he had an inhaler on him and wanted to help her. His alibi fell flat when Mariah realized he was lying as Tessa did not have asthma.
While Mariah took Tessa to freshen up, Nick called the cops on Ian and asked the lady officer to arrest him immediately to prevent further harm to the Genoa City residents on The Young and The Restless. Meanwhile, Tessa was shown asking Mariah about her former bad experiences with Ian and Mariah referred to him as pure evil while she saw flashbacks of her time with him.
While chaos ensued regarding Ian, a few residents of Genoa City were at the Jazz Lounge on The Young and The Restless. Christine and Danny were seen celebrating New Year's with Michael and Lauren. Jack and Diane got cozy and danced with each other. Lauren got worried about Phyllis Summers, who she suspected left the party abruptly after seeing Danny and Christine together.
