Lucky Spencer of General Hospital had returned to Port Charles after a long time to help with his sister, Lulu's liver transplant surgery. However, he was not a match but Sam McCall was. After donating part of her liver to Lulu, Sam passed away leaving her family in heartbroken jeopardy. At this time, Lucky informed Elizabeth Webber about his plan to go again.
General Hospital has been airing on ABC since April 1963, focusing on the lives and interactions of residents in the fictional town of Port Charles, including the hospital and its staff. Elizabeth Webber is a nurse at the hospital, and Lucky Spencer is her former husband, who has returned to town occasionally. Fans were excited to see Lucky back, but his decision to leave again has disappointed them.
Many have commented on the show's Facebook page that teased the video of Lucky's declaration. One viewer going by the name Beatrice Gonzales bluntly put:
"Waste of time bringing him back. The Writer bring him back for what to get rid of Sam n have him to leave again."
One fan believes, Lucky made no difference in the storyline and serves no purpose in the show, while another calls him a deadbeat dad.
Some viewers think the writers are not giving Lucky Spencer's character a good storyline naming it worthless.
General Hospital: What plot arc disappointed Lucky Spencer fans?
Lucky Spencer, played by Jonathan Jackson, returned to the General Hospital storyline recently when he was rescued from mobster Sidwell's custody by Anna and Jason. He was brought to town to be Lulu's donor since his sister needed a liver transplant. However, he wasn't a match.
He also met his son Aiden after years as the teenager came out to him and revealed his love for cooking. Despite having his family to catch up to, the GH episode dated November 12, 2024, found Lucky informing Elizabeth Webber about planning to leave town again. He claimed that he never planned to be back permanently and only returned for Lulu.
While Elizabeth gave him an earful, she pointed out how he had not taken up his responsibility as a father for Aiden who was going through the tender age of the teens. Moreover, she accused him of abandoning his children while Sam McCall died a hero saving Lulu's file.
A brief look at Lucky's journey on General Hospital
Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr. was born to Luke Spencer and his wife Laura Webber in August 1985, retconned later to July 1979. He was married to Elizabeth Webber before leaving town in 2011, grieving over his adoptive son, Jake's death. Later he married Siobhan McKenna.
He had many romantic alliances in Port Charles including the late Emily Quartermaine, Maxie Jones, Summer Halloway and the late Samantha McCall. While being manipulated by Helena Cassadine and Holly Sutton's company, Lucky also had many brushes with the law, such as helping Luke escape prison, stealing drugs and assaulting a cop.
He returned to the soap in 2015 when he helped his parents capture the criminal, Frank Smith. He also rescued and brought home his presumed dead son, Jake. However, feeling restless at home, Lucky left town and his family again. August 2024 found him back in the soap's plot.
His decision to leave in four months was a disappointment for GH fans who waited for Lucky to get some action in the storyline. After Elizabeth's eye-opening chastisement, Lucky may stay back, also aided by his mother, Laura's insistence.
While it is not known whether Lucky will get back with his family and become a hands-on father, Jonathan Jackson's character needs a more active story arc on the soap. Stay tuned to ABC and Hulu to catch the latest happenings on General Hospital.
