General Hospital: A recap of Aiden Spencer's storyline
Aiden Spencer, the youngest child of Elizabeth Webber, has experienced quite the journey since his birth on General Hospital in 2010. His storyline has been marked by drama, heartbreaks and growth.
The drama in Aiden’s life started from the time of his birth, involving his paternity disclosure. Following Liz’s relationship with Lucky when she cheated on him with his brother Nikolas, the question of Aiden’s paternity loomed for quite a while.
Helena Cassadine, Nikolas's grandmother, messed with the test, making Elizabeth think that Nikolas was Aiden's dad. After Aiden was born, he was kidnapped by Franco, but Dante and Jason Morgan found Aiden, and Lucky brought him back to Elizabeth and Nikolas.
Elizabeth got suspicious of Aiden’s paternity when Monica Quartermaine mentioned how much he resembled baby Lucky. That was followed by a second paternity test, which proved Lucky to be his father. Elizabeth kept this secret for a while because she was dealing with the demise of her other son, Jake.
In 2011 on General Hospital, Aiden was diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, a rare autoimmune disease. A blood transfusion from his aunt, Lulu Spencer, saved him. Soon after, Lucky left Port Charles, leaving Elizabeth to raise Aiden by herself. Aiden’s childhood had its challenges, like being bullied by his cousin, Charlotte Cassadine, and feeling lonely at school.
One of Aiden's most important storylines was seen in 2018 when his love for baking led to his classmates giving him the cruel nickname "Gayden." Elizabeth, wanting to support her son, told him that she would always be there for him, no matter what he chose to do in life.
Franco, Elizabeth’s boyfriend at the time, helped Aiden become more confident by encouraging his love for baking, which made them close friends.
Franco's death in 2021 left Aiden heartbroken. For a short while, the family thought Franco's spirit was visiting their home, which made Aiden feel torn and frightened. Despite the trauma, Aiden has kept growing emotionally, going to school and showing his interest.
During Christmas 2023, Aiden opened up about his love interest with his mom, telling her that he liked a classmate named Tobias, showing a gentle side of his teenage years. Lately, Aiden stood by his family during Gregory Chase's funeral and handled the news of his mom's split with Finn.
Now that the character has again become central to the plot, his involvement in the troubled plotlines of Lucky and Lulu Spencer could bring more drama to the show.
