In 2021 in an interview with Good Morning America, AnnaLynne opened up about her mental health issues and revealed that she had been diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (it is a mental health condition where a person has more than one personality operating an individual’s body at different times.

Days of Our Lives actress AnnaLynne McCord in 2014 in the July issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, first spoke about the s*xual assault she had faced as a child. In an April 2021 interview with Good Morning America, McCord opened up about her past trauma which led to her current mental condition.
She recalled that it was the shooting of 902010 when her character was r*ped in the series. The visuals while they shot, pushed her anxiety button. Though she didn’t have the memory of the harrowing incident the pain of it was somewhere locked inside her.
Being in a setup that had the same suffering as her past made her react high on emotions during that shoot. Initially, she couldn't understand what was happening to her, but she slowly accepted her past.
She explained that DID isn’t just about having two or more personalities, what people generally think it is, but it is like “You have fragments of yourself,” she said.
McCord explained that the person who is talking is her and then there is a part of AnnaLynne that suffered that pain. She said:
“If you can imagine it is like trapped in Pandora's box and I just opened Pandora's box."

AnnaLynne McCord was first diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder also known as PTSD in 2018 which she shared with People. The cause behind her disturbed mental health was the past trauma she had faced as a child. Several more reasons like family issues deepened her trauma with time.
The healing process
AnnaLynne McCord went through the recommended therapies and medications which helped her to improve and live her life with happiness. She believes that life is about ups and downs so if one wants to live happily “LIFE = SUFFERING until GRATITUDE > PAIN,” is what she believes as said in the interview in Good Morning America.
McCord aligned herself with several anti-sexual assault and anti-domestic abuse groups and organizations. She was also a part of the No More Campaign. She helped the victims of such incidents and spreading awareness about them is what had helped her in the healing journey.
McCord also took the help of meditation to cope with her trauma. She created Love Storm Tour which aims at raising awareness on human trafficking and s*xual abuse. It also spreads awareness about how meditation can help people through the roughest times.
