The Young and the Restless introduced Heather Stevens to the soap opera cast in 1979. Heather is the daughter of Paul Williams and April Stevens. She started out being portrayed by child actors such as Dana and Lauren Schankman in 1979 and Clair and Elizabeth Schoene until 1982.

From 1993-1994, Conci Nelson portrayed Heather as a teenager before the character matured into adulthood in 2007, when Vail Bloom was cast in the role. Vail Bloom played Heather from 2007 to 2010.

From then on, Heather was recast with Eden Reigel from 2010-2011 and Jennifer Landon in 2012. While Heather has spent considerable time offscreen since 2012, she finally returned to the series in 2023, with Vail Bloom reprising her role.

Heather currently works as a district attorney, and her recent arc revolves around her relationship with Daniel Romalotti, who she was originally investigating in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Daisy Carter.

After her character went on hiatus post the 2012 run of The Young and the Restless, Heather Stevens finally returned to the series in 2023, with actor Vail Bloom reprising her role. Heather Stevens was raised by April Stevens and led to believe that her father was April's new husband, Robert Lynch, rather than Paul Williams.

April eventually killed Robert in self-defense, and Heather later found out about her real father. Heather's childhood arc ended with April leaving town to perform community service in New York. When Heather returned to Genoa City in 2007, she was an assistant district attorney who took over from William Bardwell after he suffered a stroke that proved to be fatal.

One notable case she covered was the murder of Ji Min Kim, where she suspected Victor Newman of being the killer. Victor Newman retaliated against her, causing her to lose her job and consider skipping town, but her father, Paul Williams, convinced her to stay on.

She then began an affair with Adam Newman while working at a cosmetics company, but eventually got her job as district attorney back when Victor got exposed as Ji Min Kim's killer. Her romance with Adam Newman also ended on a bitter note, as she had him arrested due to suspecting him of having an affair with his lawyer, Rafe Torres.

More recently, in The Young and the Restless, Heather Stevens got romantically involved with Daniel Romalotti while investigating his wife, Daisy Carter's, disappearance. Meanwhile, her father, Paul, strained his relationship with her and got into legal trouble when he killed her half-brother, Ricky Williams.

Heather Stevens left Genoa City for Los Angeles with Christine Blair to help clear her father's name. Later on, Daniel recounted the status of his relationship with Heather. At first, she had moved to Savannah, Georgia, with him, but later their relationship collapsed, and she left him.

When Heather returned to The Young And The Restless in 2023, she saw Daniel again, and while she initially ended things with him, the two have since gotten back together. Heather recently planned a family trip to Portugal with Daniel, which had to be canceled at the last minute.
