Originally, Jason Morgan was born as a Quartermaine in 1981 to Alan Quartermaine and Susan Moore. After his mother's death, he was adopted by Monica Quartermaine. Jason then changed his last name as he became an operative in 1991.
Jason Morgan's recent storyline began in May 2024, when he returned alive after being presumed dead for nearly three years. He was working with Sonny as an operative while taking down mob bosses. The first person he sees in Port Charles is Carly, who helps him bandage his wounds.
However, the FBI is after Jason and Anna, who show up with officers to search Carly's house. Jason manages to evade arrest and escape, but his injuries become a problem. He manages to reach the Quartermaine Mansion and reunite with his son Danny, who helps him. Later, it is revealed that Jason was also working as a private military contractor during his absence.
Currently, Jason has been seen teaming up with Anna, his former rival on General Hospital. The two struck a deal where Anna gave Jason a satellite phone as the evidence he needed. In return, she took the chance to warn Valentin to take his daughter Charlotte and leave town.

Currently, American actor Steve Burton plays the role of Jason Morgan on General Hospital. He was cast in the role in 1991, making him one of the longtime actors on the soap. The role was initially given to the child actors Quinn Carlson and Bryan Beck when the character was younger.
However, Burton has also been on and off with his role on the soap. He took a short break from the soap in 2000 but remained actively in the role till 2012. Jason's role was then recast in 2014, and actor Billy Miller took over. Though Burton returned in 2017, he was fired in 2021 for not complying with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
