Ric Lansing is a recurring cast member of the ABC soap opera General Hospital and was played by Rick Hearst. The character was first aired on the show on November 8, 2002. His character has seen several exits, first in 2009, when the actor exited the show on June 25, 2009.
Rick Hearst always played the role except for a few episodes in 2007 when Rick had to undergo throat surgery. For that period, Nick Kiriazis took over the role.
The exit was followed by his return after five years on February 24, 2014, and another exit in July 2016. Since 2016, Ric Lansing has not been seen on General Hospital, but on July 25, 2024, Rick Hearst made an official announcement in a video on his Instagram post about his return as Ric Lansing.

Ric Lansing’s journey on General Hospital has been filled with his complex romantic relationships, changing over time as the show developed. He faced many relationship failures, attempted crimes like abduction, and also faced wrong legal charges, majorly because of his jealousy and revenge against Sonny.
Ric charmed Nina Reeves and worked along with her mother, Madeline Revees, to take over Nina’s family fortune. And when he couldn’t do as planned, Ric returned to his ex-wife and long-time love Liz, who had moved on by then. This storyline marked the exit of Ric in 2016.

Ric Lansing on General Hospital is the son of Trevor Lansing and Adela Corinthos. Adela and Trevor were both separately married, and Adela had just gotten out of a toxic marriage and had a son, Sonny, to support. Following this, Trevor hired Adela as his secretary and had an affair with her.
He eventually fell in love with Adela, and as soon as he learned that she was pregnant with his child, he offered to marry her and leave his wife.
Trevor never really accepted Sonny and hence kept looking for situations where he could blame Sonny for everything and convince Adela to give him up for adoption. Things got heated up when Adela slipped and narrowly escaped a miscarriage while making Sonny wear a raincoat. Trevor blamed Sonny and told Adela that Sonny did it intentionally because he didn’t want another child to take his place.
Adela was given the choice to send Sonny and give up on him, but instead, Adela gave up on her unborn child, Ric Lansing. When Ric was born, she moved out with Sonny and left Ric with Trevor.
All these years, Trevor had told Ric that Sonny was the reason he didn’t have his mother by his side; hence, Ric had always blamed Sonny for taking his mother away. His grudge against Sonny never ended until his exit in 2016 from General Hospital, and now his return in 2024 will tell the viewers if Ric has been able to let go of his grudges after he became a father.
Ric’s hate against his brother Sonny has not only affected his childhood but also negatively impacted his relationships. To get to his brother Sonny, he flirted with his Carly, but instead, he fell in love with Elizabeth Webber and married her.
Elizabeth had a miscarriage, which Ric blamed on Sonny, and kidnapped Carly as she was pregnant with Sonny’s child so he could take the child once he was born. As soon as Elizabeth got to know about this, she divorced him.
Sometime after their divorce, Ric offered to co-parent Elizabeth’s and Zander Smith’s child but again split up because Ric was obsessed with Sonny. Ric then married Sonny’s ex, Alexis Davis, and the couple had a daughter, Molly Lansing.
