Sami Brady, a recurring character on the Days of Our Lives, is the controversial sister of Eric Brady. Introduced in 1984 as Eric's twin, Sami has played a scheming negative role in the storyline. Daughter of Roman Brady and Marlena Evans, Sami had a disturbing childhood that involved rape and her mother's infidelity.
While growing into a twisted character, Sami remained a devoted mother to her children, Will Horton, Johnny DiMera, Allie Horton and Sydney DiMera. She even cared for Grace Brady, a baby switched at birth, who she believed to be her biological child. However, the character is famous for plotting, double standards and switching romantic partners.
For the newly indicted viewers of Days of Our Lives, Sami Brady belongs to one of the feuding families of the soap, the Bradys. The other families presented in the show are the DiMeras, the Kiriakis and the Horton families.

Days of Our Lives: Sami Brady's journey in brief
Sami has been part of Days of Our Lives since 1984, when she was born. Played by many child actors initially, Sami rapidly grew into a teenager, portrayed by Alison Sweeney since 1993. In the storyline of Days of Our Lives, she's Eric Brady's twin and Carrie Brady's younger sister.
Sweeney's Sami started her tempestuous journey by having a crush on Austin Reed, getting raped by Alan Harris and giving birth to Lucas Roberts' child, now a young adult.
She named her child Will Roberts. Moreover, she married Franco Kelly to provide him with a green card to stay in the country. But Franco was found murdered with Sami unconscious next to him. Charged with Franco's murder, she was saved just before being executed, by Lucas and Roberto's confessions.
Out of prison, Sami had a brief marriage with Brandon Walker. Her accident in the Dimera mansion brought her close to Lucas, and they were engaged. However, Lucas's mother, Kate, schemed to break them up. A mentally troubled Sami changed her personality to a transvestite named Stan and started working for Tony DiMera, selling illegal drugs.
A reformed Sami tried to reunite with Lucas, but Kate revealed Sami's "Stan" role, and they broke up again. At that time, Austin and Carrie returned to Salem. The couples dated and rivalled each other for some time as Carrie got engaged to Lucas and Sami got together with Austin.
However, things changed as EJ entered the scenario, and Sami fell for him. After realizing that EJ, who was Stefano DiMera's son, and involved with Kate, Sami went back to Lucas.
After an intimate time with Lucas, an accident forced Sami to seek out EJ's help who, in turn, forced her to get intimate with him. That left Sami pregnant with twins.
While marrying Lucas, Sami had her twins' paternity tests done. EJ was revealed to be Johnny's father, while Lucas was Allie's.
As she kept switching partners between Lucas, EJ and Rafe Hernandez, a guard at the witness protection centre, Sami's personal life kept collapsing. She gave birth to another child with EJ, Sydney DiMera, who was switched at birth and later kidnapped by her own father.
As Sami continued to be the centre of schemes involving EJ, his father Stefano and an imposter, Sami got married to Rafe. Johnny DiMera, who was fighting eye cancer, went missing and was believed to be dead. That brought the grieving parents, EJ and Sami, together. However, after Johnny returned safely, Sami's infidelity destroyed her marriage with Rafe.
All the while, her relationship with EJ on Days of Our Lives continued to swing between trust and distrust till EJ was reported shot. Guided by EJ's letter, she stole Stefano's fortune and left Salem with her kids.
Is Sami likely to continue in Days of Our Lives?
Sweeney was a regular on the show till the actor took a maternity break in 2005. At the time, Dan Wells stepped in to play Stan, an alter personality of Sami. After 2014, Sami's character became a recurring role and was seen leaving Salem for long durations.
Sweeney's Sami has continued to be a part of Days of Our Lives through shifts in the storyline. From Will claiming to be gay to meeting Will's daughter with Gabi, Arianna, Sami has seen it all.
She keeps returning to Days of Our Lives over the years in different situations. She was seen in Salem in 2015, when Will was supposedly murdered by Ben Weston, in 2017, when Will was found with memory loss, and in 2018, when she claimed to have been kept captive by Kristen DiMera.
Around this time, DNA tests of a mysterious man proved it was EJ, and he was alive. As such, Sami left with EJ.
Sami again returned in 2019 as Will was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Again in 2020, she returned during Eric and Nicole's wedding, trying to persuade Allie out of putting up her child for adoption.
While she cheated on EJ by getting close to Lucas, EJ cheated on her with Nicole. Her long-running and unresolved feud with Nicole brought the character back into the show. Already angry that Nicole was cheating on her brother Eric, Sami divorced EJ and got engaged to Lucas.
Sami Brady was last seen in Salem City in July 2022 when she walked out of her wedding with Lucas, dumped EJ and proclaimed breaking ties with Salem forever. However, many fans believe Sami will be back to meet her children in Salem.
