What happened between Sharon and Cameron on The Young and the Restless? Explained

The Young and the Restless is an ancient drama television series aired on CBS Network. There are 180 episodes in all, with the soap opera's maiden episode released on March 16, 1973. It revolves around the Newmans and the Abbotts, two rich families in Genoa City.

Sharon Case auditioned for the role of Sharon Newman in September 1994. However, the character first appeared on June 27, 1994, briefly portrayed by Monica Potter and then by Heidi Mark.

Cameron was a recurring character in the show played by Linden Ashby. He debuted on November 21, 2003, and departed when his character was killed by Sharon on June 19, 2023.

Thereafter, Linden reappears as Cameron, but only in Sharon's imagination since she's off her hallucination medication. Although Sharon knows it's not real, the thought of Cameron terrifies her. The character guides Sharon in making decisions and facing situations she's afraid of.

The Young and the Restless: Cameron's obsession with Sharon

Cameron's character brought intensity and mystery to the storyline of The Young and the Restless.

He entered the city as a wealthy businessman with a dark past. Before entering Genoa City, he and Sharon had a one night stand in Denver. Following this, he got obsessed with Sharon and started terrorizing her, bringing his manipulative, abusive, and controlling side to light.

As the drama unfolds, Cameron got more abusive and continued to pressure Sharon to meet him after the New Year's Eve party. When the two of them met – she made it very clear to him that they can't be together, to which he got furious and started hitting her. Having no choice, she hit him on the head with a champagne bottle and left thinking that he was dead.

However, Cameron was alive and planned to take his revenge. It led to a sequence of episodes where he appeared in front of Sharon, making her think that she was hallucinating. However, he got arrested for the killing of Frank Barritt among other crimes.

He was subsequently released from prison and traveled to LA, where he dated a woman who looked just like Sharon, but due to abuse, Cameron was sent back to prison. He is then paroled again in 2022 in the series.

After 20 years, he returned to Genoa City and begans stalking Sharon, and kidnapped Faith. As Sharon ararrived in search of her, she begged him to leave Faith but he did not release her. Having no other choice, she stabbed a knife into his chest, thus marking the character's exit on 19 June 2023.

In recent episodes, when Sharon went off her medication, she heard Camron's voice:

“You can try and run from what’s happening, Sharon, but you can’t hide.”

She saw him standing in her living room. However, she knew that it is just an imagination and not reality.

Linden as Cameron might be the most terrifying villain on The Young and the Restless. However, Sharon and Linden are quiet acquaintances and enjoy working with each other. As the camera rolled off Linden hugged Sharon and they both smiled at the cameras as seen in the Instagram photo.

However, The Young and the Restless is full of plot twists and makes its audiences come back for more.
