Brandon Barash was popular as Johnny Zacchara on General Hospital till 2016. The character was partly negative as he rivaled Sonny but was a friend to Lulu. He was depicted as a troubled soul who avenged his years of parental neglect by shooting at his father.

General Hospital: Brandon Barash portrayed Johnny Zacchara
The character of Johnny Zacchara was introduced on General Hospital in 2007 and Brandon Barash played the character from its inception. Barash presented Zachhara as a person from a troubled background but brash enough to take on powerful mobsters like Sonny.
Barash played the character initially as a regular cast between 2007 and 2013. In 2013, Zacchara was sent to prison as per General Hospital's storyline. He returned to the soap in December 2014 and had appearances till February 2015. He again returned in December of the same year but left after a month on the show.
A brief history of Johnny Zacchara of General Hospital
When Johnny arrived in Port Charles in 2007, he was paired as Lulu's romantic interest. He believed his father, Anthony Zacchara, tried to kill him but killed his mother, who was defending him instead, a fact covered up by Anthony's lawyer, also Johnny's guardian. After Anthony became paralyzed, Johnny took over his father's business along with his sister Claudia.
The siblings rivaled Sonny's organization leading to a power struggle. In a bid to win, the siblings hired shooters to kill Sonny but Michael got shot instead. Johnny continued his relationship with Lulu. However, when Anthony returned to take back his company, the siblings let go of the business.
Around this time, Lulu killed Logan, but Johnny took up the blame. To save him from the death penalty, Claudia lied under oath. Lulu was sent to a mental facility but the relationship faltered despite Johnny trying to bond.
When Claudia married Sonny as part of a business deal, an angry Johnny started dating Sonny's ex, Olivia. However, he later developed real feelings for her. Michael killed Claudia but her brother suspected her husband for it. On the other hand, when Sonny shot at Dante, Johnny comforted Olivia and learned that Sonny was Dante's real father.
After the truth was revealed Michael went to prison, but Johnny started stealing consignments, money, and allies from Corinthos' organization to avenge his sister. On the other hand, Kristina believed Sonny was responsible for Michael's imprisonment. She teamed up with Johnny and faked a relationship. After they survived a car bomb planted by the Corinthos chief, the pair separated.
2010 on General Hospital saw Johnny's ploy to provoke Sonny into shooting him and get arrested, fail. He later got shot by Jason and blackmailed Lisa into treating him. He tried to help Lisa in various ways including trying to get her out of the country. However, he learned that Anthony was out of prison and helped Lisa take hostages at the hospital.
Throughout 2011 on General Hospital, Johnny kept getting in Sonny's way, provoking him or flirting with PCPD detective, Dolores. Johnny shot at Anthony's car tire, causing an accident that killed Cole Thornhart and Hope Manning. Sonny was arrested for the accident and Johnny did not reveal the truth.
In 2012, Johnny started relationships with Carly and Connie. Carly dumped him after she found him having an affair with Connie. Later, he met Starr Manning and he started having regrets. He shot Anthony dead and admitted his crime in the Thornhart-Manning deaths. He started hearing their voices along with now-dead Anthony's.
At this time, Johnny bought half of The Haunted Star with Lulu. He presented Carly with an expensive gift and wrote off his shares of The Haunted Star to Starr Manning as redemption. He was charged with multiple deaths after his confession and given 20 years in prison.

Besides General Hospital, Barash has also worked in other soaps and series. He plays the twins Stefan and Jake DiMera on Days of Our Lives. He joined the latter soap in 2019 and continues to be part of it presently.
A Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South California, Barash started his acting career in 2002 with television. Some of the well-known projects in his credit are Gilmore Girls, Major Crimes, 24, NCIS, Bones, Criminal Minds, and many more. He has worked in six movies besides two television films, including Crash Landing, Intellectual Property, Guardian Angel, and more.
