As Victor Newman and his wife Nikki reminisced about their long relationship on The Young and the Restless, fans found it both boring and futile. Many newly introduced fans commented on the abusive nature of the relationship and considered Victor a controlling spouse.

One fan on Reddit, going by the handle "Loose-Log_9714," thought the writers were getting lazy and buying time through the fluff. One viewer called it a gimmick, imploring the studio to stop the flashbacks.

The Young and the Restless: What was the Victor-Nikki retrospection about?

Victor, played by Eric Braeden, rebuilt the family house that was burned down. As a surprise gift for Nikki, Victor made her happy as she took a house tour.

As Victor toasted another new beginning with drinks, Nikki, played by Melody Thomas Scott, remembered the first time she had moved into the ranch. While both agreed that they had difficult childhoods, they never thought they would have ended up in a house this beautiful. With this, there was a series of flashbacks from Victor's confession of love to Nikki's arrangements for the wedding.

The flashbacks continued to the tough phases in their relationship. They recalled the times when Victor had an affair with Ashley Abbott and Nikki started drinking. While they remembered making their way back to each other, Victor professed to making new memories together and with the rest of the family.

The episode moved on to show other family members and friends visiting the newly built house. While the large party which included Victoria, Claire, Nick, Adam, Abby and Devon looked around the house, Nikki continued walking down memory lane. She told Claire Grace about the old house while recalling her romantic moments with Victor.

Further in the episode, Victor offered his sons the other house to move into. While Nick passed the offer, Adam promised to give it a thought. He also offered Abby and Devon the renovated house as their wedding venue.
