Actor Ingo Rademacher, who played Jasper Jacks on General Hospital, has reportedly renewed his lawsuit against ABC. This lawsuit challenges the production for his termination from the soap in 2021 for not complying with ABC's COVID-19 vaccination mandate. The actor had previously sued the channel over the same but lost when a Los Angeles Superior Court ruled in favor of ABC.
New fans of General Hospital may not know Jasper Jacks, aka Jax, who was part of the soap from 1996 to 2021. The character, a business tycoon and corporate raider, was introduced by Lois Cerullo, a central character in the long-running ABC daily soap. The plot of GH, airing since April 1965, revolves around the titular hospital in the fictional town of Port Charles and the town's residents.
Following Rademacher's decision to reopen his lawsuit, many fans expressed dissatisfaction, particularly because he referenced Steve Burton's return to the storyline. Ingo questioned why he could not be rehired similarly when both he and Burton were let go for the same reason. One fan, identifying as Anna Copeland, commented:
Anna was replying to a discussion thread started by another fan, who goes by the name Rodriguez Williams. The netizen expressed their views about Rademacher's stance on the Facebook page, General Hospital Fans-Official. Rodiguez asked Rademacher to grow up and move on, pointing out how actor Burton handled the situation in a professional manner.
Many others supported Rodriguez and Anna's opinions, saying he needed to stop embarrassing himself.
Some others pointed out how he demeaned the company.
While some pointed out that Ingo's attitude could discourage production houses from hiring him, others think he should find a new job.
What is Ingo Rademacher's lawsuit about?
Ingo Rademacher, who played Jax on GH on a recurring basis, refused to comply with ABC/Disney's mandate of COVID-19 vaccination implemented for safety reasons by the channel. As a result, in November 2021, he was let go along with co-star Steve Burton for the same reason.
Within a month, Ingo sued the channel, citing political, religious, and disability discrimination, stating his religion forbade him from taking the vaccine. In response, ABC stated that the storyline was already moving toward writing off the character and requested the dismissal of the lawsuit.
In June 2023, the case was ruled in favor of ABC. In 2024, after the vaccine mandate was lifted, actor Steve Burton was rehired to reprise Jason Morgan. However, Ingo was not called back and decided to reopen his lawsuit, claiming the channel's move was politically motivated.

General Hospital: Who was Jasper Jacks on the soap?
Ingo Rademacher's Jasper Jacks arrived on the soap's plot in 1996 when Lois brought the corporate raider to town to snatch her company from Edward Quartermaine. He became entangled in romantic relationships, first with Lois and then with Brenda Barrett. Jax married Brenda, and despite Sonny Corinthos bringing in his former wife, Miranda Jamison, to town, he renewed his vows with Brenda.
After Brenda's mother drove her off a cliff, presuming her dead, Jax moved on with Chloe Morgan. While Chloe needed to marry Ned to save her fashion company, Jax married his friend Alexis Davis. However, when Chloe lost her company, Jax bought it back for her.
While Stefan Cassadine started using Chloe's psychic abilities to bring down Helena Cassadine, Jax left town to look for Brenda, believing she was alive as Stefan told him. He met Alexis's sister, Kristina Cassadine, and reunited the sisters. Tragically, Stavros murdered Chloe.
When Jax collaborated with Skye and AJ Quartermaine to take over ELQ, he fell for Skye. The two married, but Brenda returned to him. When Brenda's kidnapper, Luis Alcazar, shot Jax, he was left paralyzed. Later, he ended his marriage with Skye and was set to marry Brenda. However, he broke off the engagement upon learning of Brenda's momentary closeness to Sonny and left town.
Ingo's Jax moved in and out of Port Charles over the years. He had an affair with Sam McCall, married Courtney, and became engaged to Carly. Despite her intimacy with Sonny, Jax married Carly Spencer. The duo had a daughter, Josslyn. When Josslyn had kidney cancer, Elizabeth Webber's son Jake donated a kidney that saved her life.
While he and Carly Spencer went through a long divorce, Jax traveled in and out of town. When his mother, Lady Jane, passed away, he returned to inform Josslyn about her grandmother's death. He then set up an adventure fund account for Josslyn with the money Lady Jane left her granddaughter.
While Jax is not part of the soap, his daughter, Josslyn Jacks, remains a central character. Catch the latest happenings on ABC as the plot of General Hospital continues to bring twists to the tale every weekday.
