Where is John Black on Days of Our Lives? Character’s whereabouts explored

Peacock soap opera Days of Our Lives features a character named John Black, played by actor Drake Hogestyn. John appeared on the show on November 18, 1985, until January 29, 2009. After a break of around two years, John came back to Salem on September 26, 2011, and continued his journey since then.

In the June 2024 episodes, the confrontation between Konstantin and John made the latter feel guilty about what happened with Konstantin’s daughter. John then told his wife Marlena that he had to leave Salem and go find Catherine’s grave to apologize to her. The last time Marlena heard from John was when he landed in Greece, after which he completely turned off the radar.

Earlier, John Black went through many turbulent storylines on Days of Our Lives, including his memory loss, shady past, and a near-to-death incident that kept the viewers on the edge.

What happened to John Black on Days of Our Lives?

In an episode that aired in the week of June 10, 2024, the viewers saw Konstantin confronting John Black about his daughter’s death. Previously on Days of Our Lives, John was forced to work for Victor Kiriakis and was named “The Pawn.” Victor had tasked Steve Johnson and The Pawn (John) to deal with Konstantin as he was interfering in his local underworld rule.

As Steve and The Pawn went to Greece to meet Konstantin, his daughter Catherine was shot and killed amidst the chaos. Konstantin believed that the person responsible for this was The Pawn and hence wanted revenge from him.

In vengeance, Konstantin arrived in Salem and confronted John about his dark past as the latter had forgotten everything. In the final face-off, Konstantin was killed. However, the shocking revelation of John’s past as The Pawn didn’t let him sleep peacefully. He felt guilty about what happened to Catherine and wanted to seek redemption, so he decided to visit her grave and apologize to her.

John then spoke to Marlena about leaving Salem and going to Greece, for which she offered to come along with him, but he insisted that it was his journey and he wanted to finish it alone. As soon as John left, his fate on Days of Our Lives made viewers wonder what would happen next.

The last time viewers saw John was when he called Marlena to inform her that he landed after which he vanished. Steve, who had just recovered from a shot, left for Greece to find John Black and confirm if he was fine.

When Steve reached Greece and visited the graveyard, he found a bloody note on Catherine’s grave that raised the tension on Days of Our Lives. Steve returned to Salem with empty hands as John was nowhere to be found. His sudden departure from the show with no clue of where he could probably be left the viewers hanging about John's fate on the show.

According to Soap She Knows, a backstage source confirmed on August 2 that neither John Black nor the actor Drake Hogestyn are going anywhere. The character will continue on the show with Drake as the face.
