Which role did Josh Taylor play on Days of Our Lives? Everything you need to know

Josh Taylor has been a part of Days of Our Lives since 1977 in two different roles, Chris Kositchek and Roman Brady. He played the character of Kositchek for about a decade while Wayne Northrop played Roman Brady at the time.

While Taylor had to leave the soap due to disputes in another of his sitcom, Wayne left the soap in 1994. With Wayne no longer available to play Roman, Taylor was signed on in 1997.

Longtime viewers of Days of Our Lives may have seen Josh Taylor portray both Roman Brady and Chris Kositchek. However, newly indicted fans of the soap may recognize Roman as the recently retired commissioner who married Kate on her deathbed. But they may not know about Chris or Roman's history in the storyline.

Josh Taylor stepped into the character of Roman Brady in 1997 and has been playing the cop since then.

While the character, introduced by Wayne, was appointed to protect Marlena Evans from a serial killer, Roman belonged to the very influential Brady family of Salem City. The character was briefly portrayed by Drake Hogestyn, later revealed to be a brainwashed person identifying as Roman.

When Josh Taylor started playing Roman on Days of Our Lives, the character was resurrected from an ISA mission involving biological warfare in South America. John, Stefano and Hope discovered the cure for his ailment due to exposure. He had an affair with Kate Roberts, and they set a date for the wedding.

However, as the Days of Our Lives storyline of 2003 saw, Roman was presumably killed at his wedding reception by the perpetrators of the famous Salem Stalker Murders.

With the other victims of the case, though, he was also alive but captive in the island of Melaswen. While some of the victims were saved, Roman, Marlena, Cassie and Jack were taken to a castle by Tony DiMera, but the group escaped through explosions and fires.

Between Roman and Marlena's captive intimacy and John and Kate's romance in Salem, Roman and John fought. Trying to break up the fight, a pregnant Marlena fell down the stairs and had a miscarriage.

Soon, reinstated into the Salem Police Department, Roman became the commissioner. He became the Brady family's patriarch as well as the superior advisor for junior cops in the department.

In March 2017, Roman retired from the police force and started working in the Brady Pub's bar. In 2018, he joined Black Patch, a private detective business, with John Black and Steve Johnson. He successfully evaded Marlena's look-alike Hattie Adams' romantic advances.

Days of Our Lives in 2021 got Roman back with Kate as he wooed her and married in 2022. The duo is happily married, and February 2024 found them celebrating a loving Valentine's Day. Along with a very active Kate, Roman is also busy keeping all their loved ones safe in Salem.

A short synopsis of Josh Taylor's Chris Kositchek of Days of Our Lives

Introduced in 1977, Kositchek was a foreman at Anderson Manufacturing who was romantically interested in Mary Anderson, who had an affair with Neil Curtis. He refused to back down despite being bribed by Phyllis Anderson. Later, although he founded his own company, he returned to Anderson's after Bob had a heart attack.

Chris had an affair with Amanda, but after Amanda lost her baby, she had a hysterectomy and was divorced by her husband. She broke up with Chris and moved out of town.

Bob left Chris in charge of Anderson Manufacturing when he died. Soon, Alex Marshall joined Chris as a business partner, and Chris dated his secretary, Leslie James. However, Alex's crook partner, Jarvis, threatened Leslie to leave town, as he planned to take over Anderson's.

Chris left Anderson's and founded a health club with Josh Fallon. Later, he became the manager of Shenanigans and started dating Kayla Brady. By 1987, on the soap, Chris had passed the bar exam and become a lawyer. While his story arc was sidelined with this milestone, whether Chris resides in Salem or left town isn't known.
