General Hospital veteran actor Nicholas Pryor died on October 7, 2024, at the age of 89. Pryor had a long acting journey of nearly seven decades, where he worked in several different shows and movies, varying from medical drama to action films.

In an Instagram post on October 8, 2024, John Lindstrom mentioned cancer as the cause of Nicholas Pryor’s death.

“One of the best I've ever had. He was a mentor, a sounding board, a trusted confidant, and even a father figure,” wrote John Lindstrom.

During his active years, Pryor acted in popular movies like Risky Business and Less Than Zero, working with famous actors such as Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. On television, he was often seen in soap operas and dramas.

In General Hospital, Pryor acted as Victor Collins, father of Jon Lindstrom's character, Kevin Collins. Victor was introduced in 1997, bringing more drama to the show’s plotline.

His storyline was complicated, involving spying, mental health issues, and family problems.

A recap of Victor Collins' journey on General Hospital

Victor Collins made his first appearance on General Hospital in April 1997. Since Kevin, Victor's son, had always presumed his father to be dead, Victor's return was both surprising and emotional.

His storyline involved a troubled past, including mental health issues and a secret career as a spy, which his family didn't know about. His return to Port Charles affected his family, especially Kevin, with whom Victor had a difficult relationship.

Victor's spy background became important during the General Homicide murder mystery, where he became a suspect and also the investigator of the case.

One of the most interesting parts of Victor's story was his relationship with both of his sons, Kevin and Ryan Chamberlain.

Victor's absence during Kevin and Ryan's childhood had serious consequences. While Kevin faced mental health challenges, Ryan turned into a famous serial killer.

Despite the dark parts of his past, there were also good parts in his storyline. Victor resolved issues with his son and also found love again and married nurse Mary Scanlon in 1999.

Even though people thought he was dead for a while, Victor was finally saved by Kevin and Eve Lambert.

In his later years on the show, he lived a more peaceful life, focusing on his relationships with his family Kevin, Lucy, and his wife Mary.

"He was one of the funniest people you could hope to spend time with, and I will miss him terribly," he added.

Richard Pryor's death signifies the end of a significant period for his admirers, especially those who recall his portrayal of Victor Collins. At the time of his death, Pryor was survived by his fourth wife, actress Christine Belford, his daughter from an earlier marriage, and two grandchildren.

Pryor died from cancer at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, leaving a legacy of memorable roles in TV, movies, and theater. Besides his work on General Hospital and Port Charles, Pryor appeared in famous films like Airplane!, Damien-Omen II, and Pacific Heights.

He also played some important roles in soap operas like The Edge of Night and Another World.
