Sarah Joy Brown's roles and storyline on General Hospital

Sarah Joy Brown was first cast on General Hospital as Carly Roberts (now Carly Corinthos). She started the role in 1996. The character was written in a negative light initially when Brown played her, which contributed to the storyline and her acting.

Carly is introduced on the soap after she takes on a nursing job at the hospital and starts a relationship with mobster Jason Morgan. Later, she falls for Dr Tony Jones, who is her estranged mother Bobbie's husband. The affair falls apart after Bobbie finds out about it.

Then, Carly has an affair with AJ Quartermaine and gives birth to his child. However, she asks Jason to claim the child, and he obliges by naming him Michael. Dr Tony then kidnaps Michael to protect him from Jason. Carly shoots Tony and fakes insanity to escape her prison sentence. She is rescued from an asylum by Jason.

In the year 2000, Carly and Sonny have an affair. This makes Jason heartbroken and he leaves town for a while. However, Carly and Sonny realise that they love each other and get married the same year. After Sonny and Carly's marriage, actress Tamara Braun was recast as Carly. But Sarah Joy Brown returned to General Hospital in 2008 as a new character: Claudia Zacchara.

Claudia is the daughter of mob boss Anthony Zacchara and was brought into town to deal with her half-brother Johnny. She gets into a rivalry with enemy mob leader Sonny Corinthos and ends up in an accident, washed away into a river. Nikolas Cassadine finds her and takes care of her.

Later, Claudia gets into a tight spot with Sonny over shooting and injuring his son Michael during one of their past fights. She kidnaps a pregnant Carly, who delivers her baby in captivity. Michael arrives at the scene to save his mother and sibling, but ends up hitting Claudia with an axe, which kills her instantly.
