Abigail Deveraux DiMera is poised to return to Days of Our Lives as Chad and Jack are bringing back an unknown lady, Marin, with memory loss to Salem City. While being in and out of Salem for years, she was pronounced dead in 2022. However, when her presumed killer Clyde Weston declared not killing her, Chad and Jack went in search of her.
For the new viewers of Days of Our Lives, Abigail has been part of the show since 1992 and was played by numerous child artists initially. Young actors Jillian Clare, Ashley Benson and Emily Benson played the young Abigail while Kate Mansi and Marci Miller played the young adult role. Last seen, Marci Miller was portraying Abigail.

As per the storyline of Days of Our Lives, Abigail was born to Jennifer Horton and was delivered by her father Jack Deveraux. She belongs to the powerful Horton family, with Maggie Horton Kiriakis as her aunt. Diagnosed with aplastic anemia as an infant, she was cured with a bone marrow transplant. Next, her guilt-ridden father left them after realizing his contribution to his daughter's health issue.
Abby's childhood was ridden with instability, starting with Jack's abandonment, to the family moving to Africa, to Jack's multiple deaths and returns. In one such case, when Jack was declared brain dead, Abby's mother, Jennifer, decided to pull away life support from him, leading to mother-daughter friction.
Smitten by Josh and Max Brady as a teenager, Abby grows out of the relationship. As a young adult, Abigail developed an attraction towards Chad DiMera. However, Chad went for Melanie Jonas while Abigail eyed Austin Reed. After a few more affairs, both of them accepted their feelings for each other.
While Chad was the first person Abigail shared intimacy with, after Chad left town, she started an affair with his brother EJ. She later broke up with EJ and started dating Ben, Clyde Weston's son, while getting intimate with Chad. She supposedly got pregnant with Ben's baby.
When Ben kidnapped her, made a midwife deliver the baby, killed the midwife and tried to steal the baby, Chad came to save her. Ben tied both of them in a cabin and set it on fire, but they escaped. After Ben's arrest, they got baby Thomas Jack Deveraux back. Chad was found out to be the biological father of the baby. With this reveal, Abby and Chad married in 2016.
Hallucinations about Ben landed Abby in the Shady Hills psych ward. When she returned to Salem, Andre admonished her for returning when he and Laura were taking pains to keep her safe. However, she was happy to reunite with baby Thomas. While wanting to get back with Chad, she realized he was interested in Gabi. After yo-yo-ing between her and Gabi, Chad decided to remarry Abigail.
Stefan DiMera seized DiMera Enterprises and developed a liking for Abigail, as she and Chad looked for ways to remove him. When Gabi was arrested for Andre's murder, Stefan realized Abigail had DID with two other alters residing within her, Gabby and Dr. Laura. Of these, Laura informed Stefan that Abby killed Andre.
However, Abby was soon cured of the psychological problem. In 2022, while working on a big story, an explosion killed Abigail.

What is the speculation about Abigail's return to Days of Our Lives?
In 2022, Abby was killed in an explosion for which Clyde Weston was held responsible, but her body was missing. On one hand, her husband, Chad, felt he was seeing his dead wife. Clyde, on the other hand, insisted he didn't kill Abigail. Although Clyde is known to be a compulsive liar, Chad followed the clues the psychopath gave. He also had help and support from Abby's father, Jack.
Unravelling clues landed them in Missouri's Poplar Bluff in July 2024 on Days of Our Lives. While Jack had declared before leaving that Abby was alive, the duo found a mysterious woman, played by AnnaLynn McCord. The woman named Marin claimed amnesia with brief snippets of memory and facial surgery done on her.
Moreover, she recognized Clyde on a photograph extended by Chad. It is likely that Marin is an amnesiac Abigail after a plastic surgery on her face. Or she may be a clue to finding Abby. Going by the current storyline of Days of Our Lives, Abby looks set to return to the show.
