Camila Banus portrayed Gabi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives for more than a decade. The Hispanic character, who is the youngest sister of Rafe, Dario and the late Arianna Hernandez has gone from being the likeable girl to one of the most hateful in Salem City. Camila took over the role from Gabriela Rodriguez who had introduced the character to the soap in 2009.
For the uninitiated, NBC's Days of Our Lives currently airs on the Peacock streaming platform on all weekdays. The soap shifted to the streaming service in 2022. The plot of the soap presents interactions between the families of the Kiriakis, the Hortons, the DiMeras and the Bradys in the fictional place of Salem City. Debuting in 1965, Days of Our Lives is currently in its 59th season.

As mentioned before, Camila Banus replaced Gabriela Rodriguez as Gabi Hernandez. Camila was first seen on Days of Our Lives as Gabi in October 2010, one year after the character was introduced. She continued to play the role till 2023. She was last seen on the episode of November 9, 2023. In June 2024, Cherie Jaminez stepped into the character.

The role of Gabi had a major character shift while being played by Camila. From being an amicable young girl to a neurotic psychopath, Camila played all the personalities with aplomb earning her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2015.
After playing the character for 13 years, Camila exited the show in November 2023. Impacted by her father's death, she left to pursue other projects and has, since been part of two movies. Previously, she had been part of the daily soap, One Life to Live.

Days of Our Lives: A brief character sketch of Gabi Hernandez
Gabi debuted in 2009 when actor Gabriela Rodriguez portrayed the character. When introduced, Gabi was the endearing and warm youngest sister of Rafe Hernandez. Her birth year was approximated to be between 1992-93. Initially, she was shown to be back from school for vacations, but Gabi decided to stay in Salem and on Days of Our Lives for longer.
The siblings were found bickering over little things but forming a loving bond underneath the tussle. However, many unpleasant experiences destroyed Gabi's innocent personality. Her first trust issue started with her teenage romance with Chad DiMera in school. Chad dumped her for Mia. A disheartened Gabi dated Will Horton.
Around this time, her sister Arianna died in a road accident. Gabi looked for emotional support from Will. However, later, Will declared himself to be gay. Gabi again obsessed over Chad. She hired Andrew as a stalker and pretended to be stalked to gain Chad's attention.
While Chad allowed her to move in with him, Andrew kidnapped Melanie and blackmailed Gabi. When the truth was revealed, Chad threw her out. In a rebound, the disturbed girl had a one-night intimacy with Will.
Gabi got together with Nick Fallon after his release from prison. Though Nick claimed to have changed, Gabi became pregnant with Will's baby. Despite their issues, they married, and Gabi had her daughter.
However, when Nick's secrets were revealed, Gabi left him and moved in with Will and Sonny. After their annulment, Nick pursued Gabi and attempted to assault her. In self-defense, Gabi shot Nick to protect her baby and was briefly imprisoned. Upon release, she entered a complicated love-hate relationship with Abigail, who was married to Chad.
While Chad kept moving between Gabi and Abigail, the latter had a brief marriage with Gabi's brother Dario. Gabi left Chad for Abigail and started dating Eli. However, after Andre DiMera stole her company from her, he was found dead with evidence pointing at Gabi.
Abigail's witness sent Gabi to prison on false charges. Later Abigail confessed to having DID and one of her alters killing Andre, while another framing Gabi. Once released from prison, Gabi worked towards, removing Abigail from Chad's life and living happily with him, and her and Abigail's children.
However, thanks to Julie and Stefan's intervention, Gabi's tricks and schemes were revealed. She was next, in a relationship with Stefan, but believing him dead, moved on to Li Shin and even married him. However, Stefan returned and Li let her go.
After marrying Stefan, the new couple looked around to grab DiMera shares. While they planned to take Li's shares, Li was found stabbed to death with evidence against Gabi. She was sent to prison despite being innocent. Stefan and Rafe looked for evidence to exonerate her and open the case.
Recently on Days of Our Lives, Stefan and Rafe have managed to procure evidence proving her innocence and Gabi has been released.
