General Hospital saw the entrance of a new character, Jack Brennan, in December 2023, played by Charles Mesure. Initially a mysterious character, Brennan was soon revealed to be the chief of Pikeman Security Group besides having connections with the WSB. WSB has been referred to on the show since the 1980s and is short for World Security Bureau.
While Brennan has been embroiled in legal matters, whether his character is a villain or a righteous one remains to be seen. Along with Brennan's story arc, the plot also covers Anna Devane, Roman Hume, Carly Spencer, Jason Morgan, Valentin Cassadine and Sonny Corinthos.
Although imprisoned by Anna and Interpol, Brennan may continue to be part of the General Hospital plot for a long time.

General Hospital: Charles Mesure plays Jack Brennan
British-Australian actor Charles Mesure joined General Hospital on December 1, 2023. Known at the time as John, Mesure's character walked into Kelly's Diner and ordered burgers. He paid extra money while settling his meal check for a homeless man Carly fed outside the diner.
Next, he was seen with Roman Hume when they discussed Sonny Corinthos' stand on the shipments. The conversation between Brennan and Hume revealed that Brennan was a top agent of WSB.
Brennan was shown insisting that they cannot afford to kill Sonny. He said that Jamison Forsythe had failed to kill Anna and retrieve an important file. As Hume explained that Dante had collected and taken the crucial file to Anna, Brennan instructed him to handle the situation himself.
Brennan revisited Kelly's Diner over the next few episodes of General Hospital and chatted up an impressed Carly. However, Carly soon learned who he really was. An insecure Brennan tried to attack her.
While Carly avoided being cornered, Anna arrived with Dante and the Interpol officers. She got Brennan arrested, as shown on the General Hospital episode dated December 19, 2023.
Brennan was again seen in March 2024, when the prisoner's van carrying him stopped for a while and Valentin Cassadine entered the vehicle.
Cassadine pointed out that Brennan had failed to realize that Jason was a spy within Pikeman Security Group. Cassadine also pulled up Brennan for leaving the work and running of Pikeman to him. This divulged the fact that Brennan was also the chief of Pikeman.
Brennan and Cassadine discussed their action on Sonny. When Cassadine disclosed his plan to alter Sonny's medicines, Brennan warned against taking the mob leader lightly. In return, Cassadine warned Brennan against letting Anna know about his involvement with Pikeman.
In May 2024 episodes, Brennan was seen trying to frame a fellow inmate in prison while Carly visited him. In the meantime, WSB broke ties with Pikeman. While Pikeman was being investigated by the FBI, WSB helped Brennan escape, including wiping out his prison records. Currently, the authorities are on the lookout for him.
Who is Charles Mesure?
Mesure is an England-born Australian actor famous for playing Ben Faulkner in Desperate Housewives. He was also seen in some episodes of Las Vegas, Lost, Bones, Hercules and Xena.
Some of his other famous roles are Blackbeard in Once Upon a Time, Kyle Hobbes in V, The Beast in The Magician and JD Pollack in Crossing Jordan.
Why is Brennan and Carly's friendship in General Hospital significant?
Jack Brennan's choice of Kelly's Diner might not have been a coincidence. As he's the head of both WSB and Pikeman, he may have deliberately targeted Carly. As such, viewers noticed how he was asking veiled questions to which Carly was unknowingly giving out information that could hurt Jason.
For viewers, the picture may be clearer now that Jason had implanted himself within Pikeman to expose and bring down the arms-dealing organization. With Brennan manipulating Carly into handing out details, he seems to have planned on working in this direction.
Carly, meanwhile, seems to have found an amicable friend in Brennan. Whether she will continue to think of Jack Brennan as an ally or sees the other side of his personality remains to be seen.
