Charlotte Cassadine-Spencer has a curious birth history on General Hospital. Biologically Lulu Spencer-Falconeri is Charlotte's mother and Valentin Cassadine is her father. She was carried by a surrogate, Claudette. However, her birth history remained ambiguous for a long time, partly due to Claudette's lies.
The little girl had to move from one home to another and was claimed by different parents. Charlotte showed behavioral issues due to a lack of stability in her relationships.
However, Charlotte now knows Valentin and Lulu as her real parents despite her preference for Nina, her father's former wife, as a mother. She was seen visiting her comatose mother at General Hospital to talk about her life in 2023.
New fans of General Hospital found Charlotte back in Port Charles from the boarding school that she was attending in July 2024. However, she fled with her father Valentin and it's uncertain when she will be returning to the soap.

While the character was played by many actors, Scarlett Fernandez originally played the character from 2016, till her exit in December 2021. However, she returned as a teenager in July 2023 and continues to play the role.
General Hospital: Charlotte's journey so far in the soap
Charlotte was first mentioned on General Hospital when Claudette Beaulieu approached Nathan, claiming to have delivered his child. A DNA test was done from the sample she provided, and Nathan was proven the father.
However, when Nathan laid claim to the child, his then-girlfriend Maxie did additional paternity tests only to prove that baby Charlotte wasn't Nathan's. Claudette then admitted to lying and further tests proved Valentin was the father. Valentin fought for sole custody of the child.
Parallely Lulu, who turned infertile and couldn't have a baby, decided to rummage through Stavros's collection of Lulu's eggs. While they couldn't find any frozen samples, they learned that Stavros had prepared some embryos and planted them inside surrogates.
Soon it was revealed that one of Lulu's eggs was used to create Charlotte and Claudette only carried the baby. Valentin claimed that he knew the truth but wanted to reveal it after gaining custody of Charlotte.
As expected, with so much confusion related to her original family, Charlotte moved homes various times. First, as a child, she knew Claudette as her mother and was made to believe that Nathan was her father. However, she took to Valentin as her father when she met him.
While she was taken aback to learn that Claudette was not her mother, she loved her father's then-girlfriend, Nina. However, Lulu decided to spill the truth about being the biological mother, confusing Charlotte even further.
Moreover, when Valentin was in prison, Lulu and Dante were granted the child's temporary custody. During her interaction with the Falconeri family, she enjoyed being with her half-brother Rocco and her step-father, Dante's company.
After his release, Valentin shared Charlotte's custody with Lulu. However, Valentin and Nina broke up and he started dating Anna. Charlotte despised her father's new romantic interest and caused mayhem around her.
At the same time, she was caught bullying her cousins and cheating in school. While Nina wanted to brush away the issues, Lulu wanted to hold her daughter accountable. After some more confusion around her father's relationship with Brook Lynn Quartermaine and Nina's ploy to frame Valentin, the child went to boarding school in 2022.
When Victor was using her as a leverage on Valentin, Laura saved her and she returned to Port Charles. As per the General Hospital storyline, she came home to find her father missing but was happily reunited in a safe house.
In 2023 on General Hospital, Charlotte was seen taking more interest in her relationships. She visited Lulu with Dante at the rehab facility and asked her unconscious mother to return to her life. She further urged Dante to sell off their house.
Around this time Valentin recognized her as the miscreant who trashed and spoiled Anna's room. However, Valentin found it unacceptable that she was asked to do community service, court-ordered therapy, and stay on probation.
In April 2024, Charlotte escaped to her Swiss boarding school, only to return in July's General Hospital episodes. On July 17, 2024, she escaped Port Charles with her father, as Anna let them leave before Cates could arrest them.

Will Charlotte return to Port Charles?
With Valentin on the run with his daughter, the authorities will be looking to bring him back. His connection to Pikeman will bring him back to Port Charles. Charlotte will likely return with her father if she doesn't choose to go back to her school.
With Lulu awaiting a liver transplant, she may wake up from her coma and return to the General Hospital storyline. This may be a good time for Charlotte's story arc to move forward as she connects to her mother after years of estrangement.
