What is Christian Newman's story on The Young and the Restless?
Christian's storyline began before his birth on The Young and the Restless when Sage Newman became pregnant. Though she was married to Nick Newman at the time, Sage wasn’t sure who the father of her baby was. This was because she had a one-night stand with her ex Gabriel Bingham before discovering the pregnancy. Sage told Nick the truth, and despite being angry with her, he agreed to raise the child together.
However, Gabriel was later revealed to be Adam Newman who had come back from the dead, donning a new face. When Sage went into premature labour in Chancellor Park, Adam helped deliver the baby. After their visit to the hospital, they were told that their baby had not made it out alive. Later, Adam revealed to his father Victor that he had tampered with the paternity test result and that he was the presumed dead baby's father, not Nick.
In another twist, the audience saw that Christian was not dead. Instead, he was switched at birth with Sharon's baby, with the doctor hiding the news that Sharon miscarried her child. Sharon was married to Dylan McAvoy at the time, and they named the baby boy Sully McAvoy. Initially, Sharon and Sage learned the truth about the baby switch, but Sharon decided to continue raising Christian as Sully when Sage died in a car accident.
When the truth about Christian finally came out, Dylan had to bid his son farewell and hand him over to Nick. However, the drama in baby Christian's life did not end here. After this, it was finally publicly revealed that Adam was Christian's father, leading to a massive custody battle between Nick and Adam. Adam believed that he should raise Christian, being his biological father, while Nick considered he was a more responsible choice. At the end of it all, Nick won custody of Christian and is currently raising him, as shown in the show.
Audiences can watch The Young and the Restless via CBS and Paramount+. New episodes of the soap are released every weekday via the platforms.
