Who is Emma Drake on General Hospital? Everything you need to know

Emma Drake, a beloved General Hospital character since 2008, was portrayed by Brooklyn Rae Silzer until 2023 and is now played by Braedyn Bruner.

The daughter of Dr. Patrick Drake and Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake, Emma has a sibling, Noah Scorpio-Drake, born off-screen in 2017.

She was a recurring character until 2018, with guest appearances in 2020 and 2023. Emma, central to the Scorpio and Drake family storylines, returned to the show on December 23, 2024.

Patrick and Robin planned to marry on October 29, 2008, but the ceremony was delayed as Patrick was in surgery. It was further interrupted when Robin's water broke. Emma's delivery was complicated due to the umbilical cord around her neck, but Dr. Kelly Lee safely delivered her via C-section.

Since Robin was HIV-positive, it was considered a miracle for Emma to be born HIV-negative. However, it was feared that Emma might have contracted HIV after birth as Robin had an open wound. To the family's relief, Emma tested negative for HIV.

Emma's Childhood in Port Charles on General Hospital

Following Emma's birth, Robin was diagnosed with Postpartum Depression (PPD). PPD made it hard for Robin to connect with Emma. On one occasion, Emma developed a high fever but Robin who was trying to cope with PPD, didn't realize that Emma was running a fever until later.

However, when Robin discovered that Emma was sick, she rushed Emma to the hospital but their van broke down. Later with the help of Maxie and Johnny Zacchara, Emma was brought to the hospital. Emma was diagnosed with pneumonia but made a full recovery. Robin also recovered from PPD with help.

In 2012, it was presumed that Robin died after a lab explosion. Emma and Patrick found it hard to cope with Robin's death but eventually learned to cope and formed a deep bond with each other in the process.

In 2013, it was revealed that Robin wasn't dead and was held captive by Cesar Faison and later by Jerry Jacks. However, she later escaped the captivity and returned to Port Charles to reunite with Emma.

Eventually, in 2016, Patrick and Robin reunited after being separated for years. They left Port Charles and moved to California with Emma after getting remarried.

Emma's return to Port Charles over the years

Although Emma's family moved to California, she often returned to Port Charles to visit her extended family. During these visits, she played an important role in many storylines by accompanying the other characters.

On one such occasion, she helped Spencer Cassadine to cope with his father's memorial. She also introduced her grandmother, Anna Devane, to online dating. Emma was a flower girl at Nathan West and Maxie Jones's wedding.

In 2018, she went on a covert mission to Switzerland with her grandparents and got to conduct research for her school project. Emma returned to Port Charles again in 2020 following the shootings by Cyrus Renault. She reconnected with her old friends and bonded with Violet Finn.

On December 23, 2023, Emma returned to Port Charles to visit her family. Emma encountered Gio Plameiri, whom she used as a distraction to serve justice to an elderly woman who was scammed by another man.

Later, Emma joined the Scorpio family for the Christmas Eve celebrations, reuniting with her extended family. Emma also met Sasha Corbin and Cody Bells for the first time.

The return of Emma suggests new storylines involving the Scorpio and Drake family. Also, Emma's encounters with the young characters hint at potential friendships and relationships.
