On the ABC soap opera General Hospital, Karen Wexler was the daughter of Rhonda Wurth and Scott Baldwin. The character was first introduced on the show on March 27, 1992, and was played by actress Cari Shayne until 1994. The character was then taken over by Jennifer Hammon from 1997 to 1999, and lastly, it was played by Marie Wilson from 1999 to 2003.

During Karen’s time on General Hospital, the flashbacks of her childhood were portrayed by Jessie-Ann Friend in 1993 and Liz Nicole Abrams in 1997. Karen Wexler has had a rough journey since her childhood. First, her paternity was not revealed until her mother was about to die, she faced sexual assault as a kid, and she even went through rough phases of life while looking for love.

The character was written out from the show in 2003, as Karen met an accident that ultimately led her to death due to severe injuries on July 1.

How did Karen Wexler's journey end on General Hospital?

Karen Wexler’s journey on General Hospital started with her relationship with Jason Quatermaine when they were in high school. However, Karen was actually in love with John “Jagger” Cates but Brenda Barrett kept Karen away from Jagger because she wanted him.

Eventually, Karen and Jagger came together, but their relationship went through many ups and downs as Karen recalled her dark past of getting molested by her mother’s abusive boyfriend, Tay Conway. Karen started drinking and sitting at shady bars, after which Stone Cates took her to Sonny Corinthos to give her a job as a strip dancer at his club.

During the daytime, she used to study to become a doctor, and at night, she did the job of a stripper and became a drug addict. She also had a short-term affair with Sonny. After Alan Quatermaine found out that she was stealing drugs, her journey to become sober started. She returned to Jagger and moved with him to Chicago after their marriage.

In 1997, Karen returned alone to Port Charles to work as an intern at General Hospital. Her marriage ended because of the long distance, and she was attracted to Joe Scanlon. Karen and Joe gave it a try but soon understood that they were good as friends, after which Karen got along with Joe’s brother, Frank Scanlon.

Karen soon disappeared from General Hospital. She returned when the couple was stuck fighting against the vampires. After this, Rafe not only saved Karen as her blood was infected with vampire blood but also reunited her with Frank.

Her journey on the show ended when she met an accident that left her severely injured and became the cause of her death.
