Nathan "Nate" Oliver Hastings Jr. is one of the characters who first appeared on The Young and the Restless as an infant in 1992. At present, the actor Sean Dominic has been playing the role since his casting in 2019. As a character, Nate has been through much turmoil and confusing parenting situations, ever since his birth.

Nate was born to Nathan Hastings and Olivia Winters, who are his biological parents on the soap. After betrayal and heartbreak from her partner Nathan, Olivia decided to seek full custody of Nate and make sure the child didn't have to see his biological father again. Angry at this, Nathan even briefly kidnaps his son from Olivia before returning him home. Nathan was killed in a fatal car crash soon after.

Later, Nate was adopted by Neil Winters, whom Olivia had grown close to. However, Olivia last appeared on the soap in 2012 and Nate's adoptive father Neil was killed in the storyline after suffering from a stroke. In the current storyline of The Young and the Restless, Nate has recently discovered that he has a half-brother from his father Nathan's side.

Who is Nate's actual father in The Young and the Restless?

Nate's real father on The Young and the Restless is Nathan Hastings. He was married to Olivia Winters when Nate was conceived. During the marriage and before Nate was conceived, Nathan cheated on Olivia with a woman named Keesha Monroe. Later, Keesha tested positive for HIV and informed the family of the same.

This revelation put a strain on Olivia and Nathan's marriage. She was scared that her husband's adultery might have caused her and her child to have an HIV transmission. Fortunately, Olivia, Nathan, and Nate tested negative for the virus.

However, Olivia continued to remain angry at Nathan and took full custody of her son. Out of desperation and anger, Nathan kidnaps Nate and goes on the run with him. Later, he had a change of heart and returned Nate to Olivia. But before he could reunite with her, Nathan was killed in a car accident.

Olivia Winters was Nate's biological mother on The Young and the Restless. During her pregnancy, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and almost had to have an abortion. Thankfully, she did not have to do so since Nate was born as an early baby and Olivia survived the delivery. After an HIV scare from her husband Nathan, she became estranged from him. She was briefly parted from Nate when Nathan kidnapped the child, but Olivia reunited with her son soon after.

Olivia later married Malcolm Winters but, like Nathan, he too cheated on her. Olivia sought a divorce from Malcolm and started growing closer to his brother Neil Winters. Unfortunately, Olivia's health began to decline soon after, and she was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. She assigned custody of Nate to Neil in case she died. Neil became Nate's adoptive father even though Olivia survived her ailment after receiving a bone marrow transplant from Drucilla Winters.
