Who was the original Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful?

Actor Rebecca Budig stepped into the role of Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful. She's the fourth actor playing Taylor and took over from Krista Allen who exited in November 2023. However, the character debuted in the soap in June 1990, portrayed by Hunter Tylo, the original Taylor Hayes.

For the newly indicted fans of The Bold and the Beautiful, Taylor Hayes was one of the original love interests in Ridge Forrester's love triangle, besides Brooke Logan. Married to Ridge twice, Taylor has two of the three children from the marriage.

After her break-up with Ridge, in the last couple of years, Taylor has been the emotional support for her children, Thomas and Steffy.

Taylor Hayes was introduced on The Bold and the Beautiful in June 1990, portrayed by Hunter Tylo. Starting with her introductory episode dated June 6, 1990, Tylo remained in the cast till 2019. During this period, she often left to pursue other projects. The storyline presumed Taylor as dead during the gaps.

In 1996, Tylo took up work on Melrose Place, but she fought a legal issue with the production house and returned to The Bold and the Beautiful. She departed again in 2002 when her character was killed off. In 2004, she appeared as Taylor's ghost in the soap, returning in 2005.

Her contract for a regular cast ended in 2013, and she officially exited the show. However, she continued making guest appearances till 2019. In 2021, Krista Allen was announced to step into the role.

Hunter Tylo's Taylor was a renowned psychologist who counselled a cancer-ridden Caroline and her husband, Ridge Forrester.

After Caroline's death, Taylor and Ridge had a romance culminating in their marriage. Caught in a plane crash, she was rescued by Prince Omar Rashid of Morocco. He intended to marry the amnesiac Taylor.

Regaining her memory, she escaped and came back to Ridge, but Ridge was already in love with Brooke and Taylor's marriage fell apart. However, she was pregnant, and after Thomas was born, they married again. The next year, they had twins, Steffy and Phoebe, but she died after being shot by Sheila.

Tylo appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful as Taylor's ghost before rejoining the soap. The backstory claimed Taylor being abducted and held by the Moroccan Prince again. Taylor, dumped by Ridge over a past infidelity, became an alcoholic.

Her next romantic alliance was with Nick Marone, but her IVF baby with Nick turned out to be Brooke's biological baby due to a mixup in the lab.

She divorced Nick and married Whip. She seemed unable to settle down with one man and darted between Ridge, Thorne, Eric, Whip and Nick. She finally decided to move to Paris with Thorne.

In 2018, Tylo's Taylor was again seen in LA when she revealed she had shot Bill Spencer Jr. once before and wouldn't hesitate to repeat it if he troubled Steffy. On one hand, Bill agreed to her terms, while on the other, Hope and Brooke reluctantly consented to not press charges.

After staying with her daughter, Steffy, and her granddaughter, Taylor went overseas citing missionary work. That was the last time, Hunter Tylo appeared on the soap as Taylor.
