As a baby, the twins Nicole and Ryan Miller debuted the role in 1990 and played the character for a year. Rick was aged up into a toddler speedily, with child actor actor Jeremy Snider being cast from 1991 to 1995. When Rick aged up to a teen in 1995, Steve Hartman took on the role for two years till 1997.
It was when Jacob Young took over the role of Rick, making his first appearance in December 1997. Young received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1999 for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. However, he left the soap the same year to focus on other projects.
The role of Rick Forrester was then given to a relatively unknown actor: newcomer Justin Torkildsen who played Rick for the longest span, from 1999 to 2006, before in December 2006, Kyle Lowder was announced to play the character.
