Allison Mills, or Alley Mills, now plays Heather Webber on General Hospital, replacing Robin Mattson, who played the role for 36 years. Mills joined the show in 2022 and won a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance, despite being a guest performer.

Georganne LaPiere played Heather when she debuted in the show in 1976. Georganne was part of the soap for one year. As she exited, Mary O'Brien took over the character in 1977 and was part of General Hospital till 1979.
Robin Mattson stepped into the role in 1980. However, the storyline kept sending Heather away from Port Charles to sanitariums and other locations. As such, Mattson was seen intermittently over the next three decades. She was last seen in the character in December 2016.
The character re-emerged in October 2022 with Alley Mills stepping into Heather's shoes, as Mattson claimed medical issues. While initially exiting in February 2023, Mills returned to reprise the role in April 2023 and has continued since then.

General Hospital: A brief character sketch of Heather Webber
As per the storyline of General Hospital, Heather was introduced as Heather Grant, a jobless 19-year-old woman. Nurse Diana Taylor hired her as a nanny for her child. She aimed to woo Dr. Jeff Webber, who was married to Dr. Monica. A pregnant Heather could not win Jeff Webber and sold off her child, Steven Lars, to an unaware Diana Taylor. At the same time, she lied to Jeff about a stillborn baby.
She, next took up the position of a nanny at the Taylors to stay close to her biological son. Jeff married her and she got pregnant again. However, this time, she really lost her baby and became fixated on wanting Steven Lars back.
Heather started her machinations by trying to drive Diana insane and spiked Diana's drink with LSD. However, due to a mix-up, she ended up consuming the spiked drink and started hallucinating. Dr. Webber decided to admit his wife into the Pine Circle sanitarium.
She left Port Charles for a few years, returning once to get into the Quartermaine household by manipulating Edward Quartermaine. She failed in her scheme thanks to Luke Spencer who exposed her crimes including Heather murdering a policeman. She was again put in a sanitarium for more years.
Heather returned to General Hospital again creating chaos in the lives of Luke Spencer, Jason Morgan and the Webbers. She was diagnosed and cured of flesh-eating disease by Dr. Finn after which she managed to escape prison time. She found out that she was going to be a grandmother through her estranged daughter Esme Prince, who was fathered by Ryan Chamberlain, a convicted serial killer.
When a pregnant and amnesiac Esme landed in prison, Heather urged Ryan to help her break Esme out. As they were escaping, cops arrived and took her back to prison. A reluctant Esme connected with her mother but was presumed dead.
On the other hand, after being diagnosed with cobalt poisoning, Heather tried to blame the medical issue for all her crimes. With Heather set to transform her image at least for the people connected to her and her grandson Ace, there may be a change in her upcoming story arc.
