General Hospital: Silas Clay's story arc
Sam met Silas in Manhattan and thought he was the criminal Stephen Clay. Silas assured her that he was Stephen's elder brother although almost a lookalike. Reassured, Sam McCall informed him about his brother's death and his nephew, Rafe, being raised by her.
After that, Silas arrived in Port Charles to claim Rafe's custody and went through a legal procedure to acquire the same. However, he relinquished his wish to take Rafe back. He joined General Hospital as a specialist and helped Sam treat her son for leukemia. He also got romantically involved with Sam.
He met Ava Jerome, with who he had an affair in the past which resulted in his wife's attempted suicide. He found out that he was the father of Ava's daughter. Learning that Nina was in a coma for 20 years and Silas was not allowed visitations, Sam pushed him to look for her. The duo was informed that Nina was dead, by Madeline, Nina's mother.
However, Nina returned alive in a wheelchair seeking revenge. While Silas invited her to move in so that he could care for her, she drove Silas and Sam apart. While he broke up with Nina as well, he sided with Ava through her problems which included her prisonbreak and her cancer. To treat Ava's cancer, Silas kidnapped her newborn baby, Avery, to extract bonemarrow for transplant.
Later he wanted to reveal his role in the kidnapping and Ava's disguise to Nina. However, on August 31, 2015, he was murdered by Madeline before he could come clean. That was Silas's last appearance on General Hospital.
After Silas's story arc came to an end, actor Michael Easton rejoined the soap as Hamilton Finn and continued working at the hospital. Currently, Silas's daughter Willow, his grandchildren, Willey and Amelia, and his wife, Nina, and his former romantic interests, Ava and Sam, continue to reside in Port Charles.
