Theo Vanderway on The Young and the Restless joined the cast in early 2019 and remained a part of the CBS daytime soap opera until February 2021. He is a recurring cast member of the show and was first played by Nic Luken (known for his role as Jonah in Nashville) from May 9, 2019, until June 2019.
The role was then taken over by Tyler Johnson (known for appearing in shows like Gossip Girl) on June 3, 2019. Tyler continued playing the role until November 2020, when he announced on his X handle that his time playing Theo had come to an end. The makers of The Young and the Restless, however, brought back Johnson as Theo for a brief period in February 2021.

What was going on between Theo and Summer on The Young and the Restless?
Summer Newman and Kyle Abbott met Theo Vanderway for the first time in Manhattan. He followed them to Genoa City. He proved to be helpful and introduced them to an internet influencer who could help them with some work.
Very soon after they met, Summer and Theo began a physical relationship, making sure that no strings were attached because Summer was soon going to marry Kyle. But things didn’t work out as planned because Theo started to develop feelings for Summer.
Theo confessed his feelings to Summer and asked her to give him a chance. As he knew that Summer wanted to get married to Kyle, he told her some dark secrets from Kyle’s past.
He told her about the party Kyle and Theo were at with a young woman named Zoe Hardisty, who had to be rushed to the hospital. It was later revealed that she was a minor. He also told her that Kyle paid the young girl’s father to save himself from any legal proceedings.
He even brought Zoe to their wedding ceremony to make things worse between Kyle and Summer. Even though the couple didn’t get married, Theo didn’t end up with Summer.
The Young and the Restless: The conflict between Kyle and Theo
Kyle and Theo didn’t share a positive relationship because of what had happened in their past on The Young and the Restless. Theo’s father, Eric Vanderway, was an illegitimate son of Dina Mergeron and Stuart Brooks, which made Theo Kyle’s cousin.
Jack Abbott and Traci Abbott welcomed Theo into the family and gave him a job at Jabot, but Kyle wasn’t really happy about the situation. Theo became friends with Lola Rosales (Kyle’s wife), which Kyle didn’t appreciate at all.
Kyle blamed Theo for making a move on his wife. Following this, Kyle broke up with Lola not because he was angry over Theo and Lola’s bonding but because he couldn’t get over Summer.
Theo supported Lola during this break-off period, and soon, Lola made a move and kissed Theo. He didn’t want to take advantage of Lola’s situation, hence Theo declined her and wanted to take things slow with her. But things ended as Theo was confused about his feelings for Summer and ended up flirting with Chelsea Lawson.
Theo made a plan with Kendra's help against Kyle. But Kyle and Summer learned about his plan and laid a trap, which got Theo fired from the company. Theo wanted to get back at the Abbotts because they didn’t let him be a part of Dinah’s last rites and, hence, wished to sue them for Dina's entire fortune. Realizing that the odds of winning were slim, he took Dina's Parisian boutiques instead of going with a lawsuit.
Theo’s grudges against Kyle didn’t end even after he left Geneo City and moved to Paris in The Young and the Restless. He came back to the city and became friends with Sally Spectra, who had a grudge against Kyle.
Theo told her that Kyle had an affair with a woman in New York and also had a kid with her, which Sally used openly against Kyle. Theo left immediately after this incident as he felt that he had gotten his revenge on Kyle.
