Theresa Donovan is a character in Days of Our Lives who was first introduced in 1990 as the daughter of super-couple Shane Donovan and Kimberly Brady. She was played by various child actors from 1990 to 1992, and she made further appearances in 1996 and 1997.
In 2013, Theresa was recast with Jen Lilley, who caught producer Ken Corday's attention from her role as Maxine on General Hospital. Theresa was a major character from 2013 to 2016 and appeared again in 2018. Jen Lilley's final appearance as Theresa was on September 29, 2023, after which Emily O'Brien took over the role for the rest of 2023 and into 2024.

Theresa Donovan first appeared on Days of Our Lives on September 3, 1990, as the daughter of Kimberly Brady and Shane Donovan. She was initially believed to be Cal Winter's daughter before paternity testing revealed the truth.

Theresa grew up in Salem and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles. She also went to Mexico as a teenager, where she met Mateo, not knowing that he was the son of a drug lord. She proceeded to cut ties with him after finding out.
In July 2013, she returned to Salem as an adult, where she got involved with JJ Devereaux while trying to get marijuana. This led to a confrontation with JJ's mother, Jennifer Horton, following which Theresa developed a rivalry with her.
Theresa plotted against Jennifer by scheming with Anne Milbauer and seducing Dr. Daniel Jonas. She later slept with JJ and overdosed on cannabis and GHB, prompting her parents' return to Salem. In 2014, despite attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings, she continued her addiction and entered a dysfunctional relationship with Brady Black.
In 2015, Theresa discovered that Kristen DiMera had stolen her embryo and carried it to term. Brady, with Melanie Jones' help, retrieved the baby, whom Theresa renamed Tate. She then grew possessive of Brady and coerced Melanie into leaving Salem.
Brady realized what Theresa was doing, and rejected her, but she continued to employ underhanded schemes to win him back, from faking a broken ankle to pursuing a relationship with Xander Cook, only to turn around and accuse him of rape.
This succeeded in winning back Brady, and she moved into the Kiriakis mansion as a result, only to butt heads with the family patriarch Victor Kiriakis. However, her life took a dark turn when Mateo managed to track her down to Salem, and demanded she go back to him.
Deciding that she needed to go along with his demands to truly take down his criminal operation and be free of him, Theresa agreed to leave Salem and pushed Brady away from her.
Theresa reappeared on Days of Our Lives in 2018, where her plotting against Mateo continued. In the process, she allied herself with Xander Kiriakis, who leveraged the partnership to get her help in getting back into the Kiriakis family's good graces.
The character's last appearance on Days of Our Lives so far has been in 2024, when she entered a relationship with Alex Kiriakis while trying to mend her estranged relationship with Brady Black. Eventually, her marriage with Alex fell apart and she was sent to prison.
