Drama is heating up on The Young and the Restless as the weeks of August ending and September 2024 have shown with Cameron relentlessly following Sharon. Her mental health has been deteriorating while her family scrambles to help her. To top it off, the deranged woman has managed to fool her loved ones and cover her tracks so far. However, many lives are likely to be affected soon.
The Young and the Restless: What is wrong with Sharon?
Longtime fans of The Young and the Restless may remember that Sharon, played by Sharon Case, lost her daughter Cassie in a car crash, while Cassie was driving under the influence of alcohol. At the time, a 14-year-old Cassiie was behind the wheel with a heavily drunk Daniel as her passenger. Daniel survived the accident, but Cassie did not.
As Sharon tried to cope with the grief of losing Cassie, her marriage failed, and her husband got involved with Daniel's mother, Phyllis. Over the years, many things have changed. Nick Newman is back with her, and Cassie's twin Mariah is close to her besides her younger daughter, Faith. However, her bipolar disorder has been growing lately, for which she was prescribed medicines by doctors.
Recently, after Faith and Daniel's daughter, Lucy, had a car accident on The Young and the Restless, Sharon's mental state spiraled out of control. Moreover, Phyllis came to the hospital to visit Faith, which gave Sharon the final push. She kept seeing the now-dead Cameron and Cassie around her, and she talked to them. While she hid the fact from her family well, they started suspecting her behavior.
Her inner devil's voice, in the form of Cameron, stays with her all the time and advises her. As such, Cameron has asked Sharon to avenge Cassie's death from Daniel. Sharon even dreamt how her life might have been better if Daniel, and not Cassie, had been the victim of the crash from the past. She even wants to attack Lucy, holding her responsible for Faith's accident.
While The Young and the Restless audience knows that Cameron is a representative of the darker self of Sharon, his presence makes it clear that Sharon is mentally ill and needs help.
The Young and the Restless: Where is Sharon's current story arc moving?
Determined to kill Daniel despite having a chat with him about letting bygones be bygones, Sharon secretly left for a motel room with the imaginary Cameron in the episode that aired September 19, 2024. She covered her tracks by texting Faith, stating she was going on a business trip to Madison.
In her motel room, she is seen chalking out her plans with Cameron, while he eggs her on to throwing her family off-scent. She looks into an old photograph of hers with Cassie and Nick and realizes that she must fight for what matters.
Meanwhile, Nick discussed with both Mariah and Faith identifying Sharon's condition. Recently on The Young and the Restless, secretly going through her things, Mariah thought Sharon was taking the prescribed medicines regularly. However, her behavior showed otherwise.
