Days of Our Lives legacy character Abigail, portrayed by Marci Miller, was accidentally stabbed by Clyde at DiMera House. Abigail Deveraux had been part of the show since 2001. The character is the daughter of Jack and Jennifer Deveraux and the sister of JJ Deveraux and Gwen Rizczech.

Days of Our Lives premiered in 1965 on NBC and was shifted to its streaming platform Peacock in 2022. The show is set in the fictional City of Salem and revolves around the lives, friendships, love, and enemies of the residents of the city. The show has witnessed the entries and exits of various actors, actresses, and characters from the American daytime daily soap opera.

What was the reason for Marci's exit from Days of Our Lives?

An article released by Soaps in Depth on June 27, 2022, revealed that when Marci talked with Soap Opera Digest, she stated:

"I like to do other things."
“Hey, I’m going to play Abby DiMera for 20 years.’ It’s really hard for the show to accommodate that and make space for that."

The actress further revealed that she had received various offers from the movies. However, she had to reject them since the show could not accommodate the dates. She also mentioned that:

“The show wasn’t doing anything wrong, you sign a contract, they buy your time, and that’s the gig. They’ve got things they need to do, too.”

Unfortunately, the makers and Marci tried to get into a middle ground but were not able to, leaving no choice but for the character to exit the show.

Similarly, On June 17, 2022, Soaps in Depth released an article where it was revealed that head writer Ron Carlivati told Soap Opera Digest that:

“It made it challenging to tell the story for Chad and Abigail,”

He added that when the show's two characters are a happy couple, separating them is a bummer due to a breakup or making either of them leave the city frequently. However, it is also a very difficult decision on how they can free the character without it being affected.

"That was a hard decision among the writers, with the network, with Corday Productions, with everyone, and we ultimately decided to do it.”
“There is always that possibility that death is not permanent, especially on a soap opera and especially in Salem.”

However, they have written the character's exit permanently.
