Kim Matula played teenager Hope Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful between 2010 and 2016. She was part of the regular cast till 2014, after which she did not renew her contract. She made guest appearances in April 2015 and March 2016 before moving away from the soap altogether. Matula moved on to explore other projects on television and the big screen.

New viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful may not know that multiple actors have played Hope Logan across age groups depicted in the show. Kim Matula stepped into the character when Hope Logan was depicted as a teenager in 2010. After her departure, Annika Noelle has continued to portray the character.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Kim Matula's character and her exit

As mentioned before, Kim Matula played Brooke's daughter Hope Logan in The Bold and the Beautiful. While the character is a central figure in the current plot, Matula joined the cast when Hope was inexplicably aged to a teenager a decade after the character was presumably born.

Matula's Hope started her tumultuous journey on The Bold and the Beautiful by avoiding assault by her teen crush, photographer Graham Darros. Her infatuation for Oliver was soon followed by her love for Liam Spencer. However, she fought her rival Steffy Forrester and they formed a love triangle. As such, she called off her marriage with Liam as she witnessed him in close contact with Steffy.

While Steffy and Liam married, the latter continued to harbor feelings for Hope. On one hand, Steffy faked health issues to keep Liam tied to her, on the other hand, Hope developed a dependence on anxiety pills due to her emotional turmoil.

When Liam's marriage broke up, Hope had the opportunity to get her beau back. Recovering from her addiction to anxiety pills, Hope left for Italy to prepare for her wedding. However, Liam misunderstood that Hope had left him and sought solace in Steffy. As he got back with Steffy, a despondent Hope had a rebound affair with Wyatt Spencer followed by a marriage.

After her miscarriage, an emotional Hope concentrated on her career. Her marriage with Wyatt ended and she tried hard to reign in her feelings for Liam. After her mother's advice, she decided to stay away from her rival and her former beau. This period marked the exit of Kim Matula from The Bold and the Beautiful.

Matula left The Bold and the Beautiful for other projects

Matula chose not to renew her contract after 2014, although she appeared on the soap for two episodes in April 2015 and one episode in March 2016, as a guest star.

In 2014, she wrote on her Instagram page about her exit and reminisced about her 5-year tenure on The Bold and the Beautiful. She accepted that the show was a huge part of her life and reasoned that as an actor she wanted to "spread her wings" and try out other offers.

Another Instagram post from the actor in 2022 had a selfie with Katherine Kelly Lang of Brooke fame, and Linsey Godfrey, who played Caroline Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. The image portrayed good rapport among the actors, suggesting there were no bitter feelings behind Matula's exit.

The talented actor has been busy with multiple projects after her exit. Some of the notable television projects she has been part of include UnReal, Teachers, LA to Vegas, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Ghost of Christmas Always, and NCIS. The movies in which she appeared since 2014 are Dawn Patrol, Broken Strings, Maybe Someday, Fighting with My Family, Haunted and Tapawingo.

Kim Matula is currently awaiting the worldwide release of Colombia Pictures' Saturday Night, on October 11, 2024, following a limited theatrical release on September 27, 2024.
