General Hospital is a long-running soap opera series that first premiered in 1963. The character of Lulu Spencer was originally introduced in 1994 as the daughter of Luke and Laura Spencer.

Emme Rylan portrayed Lulu Spencer from 2013 to 2020, when her character was written out of the show. Lulu fell into a coma and was transferred to a long-term care facility due to a botched bombing plot orchestrated by General Hospital chairman Cyrus.

Over the years, Lulu's character has been portrayed by several actors. The character was portrayed by child actors Amanda and Kerraine Harrington from 1994 to 1995, Maribel and Claire Moses from March to September 1995, Alysin and Keli Griffith from 1995 to 2001, and Stephanie Allen from September 2001 to 2003. The final phase of Lulu's childhood was portrayed by Tessa Allen from 2004 to 2005.

Lulu became an adult in 2005 when Julie Marie Berman took over the role, continuing until 2013 when she was replaced by Emme Rylan.

Lulu Spencer was rendered comatose in General Hospital's 2020 run after being caught in a bomb explosion. This event coincided with Emme Rylan's departure from the show. Lulu's coma was met with sorrow by the surrounding characters, with Laura, in particular, taking it very badly and blaming General Hospital chairman Cyrus for causing the explosion.

The series confirmed that the explosion was indeed Cyrus's responsibility, as he ordered Julian Jerome to bomb the restaurant where Lulu was. However, his real target, Jason Morgan, had already left the restaurant before the explosion, ensuring the bombing plot was all for nothing.

When asked about the status of her character, Emme Rylan confirmed she had been written out of the show but left the door open for a potential return. In an Instagram story from August 2023, she said:

“The bottom line, no matter what the internet says, I have made it very clear to GH that I am always available to play Lulu should she ever want to wake up.”

What is the status of Lulu right now?

Lulu remains comatose in a long-term care facility as a result of the restaurant explosion, but she made a notable appearance in recent episodes of General Hospital.

In the July 19 episode, her potential recovery was teased when Lulu's ex-boyfriend, Dante Falconeri, and Lulu's mother, Laura Collins, visited her and pleaded with her to wake up for the sake of her kids.

Additionally, Jonathan Jackson is confirmed to return as Lulu's brother, Lucky Spencer. These series of events have sparked excitement among fans, with many of them calling for Lulu to make a proper recovery and reunite with her loved ones.

In response to the General Hospital post that broke the news about Lulu's visit, many fans began openly demanding that the beloved character make a comeback.

One fan said:

"It's time for Lulu to wake up! #GH"

Others echoed similar sentiments:

"Yes, Jamie, yes! Past time!" another fan wrote.
"Yes it is! I would love for Marci Miller to play her. Having both Abigail DiMeras in Port Charles would be beyond AWESOME. #GH #Lulu," one fan commented.

Although it remains uncertain if or how Lulu might make a full comeback, the anticipation among fans is palpable. General Hospital continues to air on the ABC Network.
