Why is Ric Lansing coming forward for Alexis on General Hospital? Explained

Alexis Davis on General Hospital has been caught in a compromising position as of September 5's episode. After Jagger Cates was shot dead, Alexis chose to dispose of a gun in her daughter Kristina's possession to prevent her from being implicated in the crime.

However, this act was witnessed by Elizabeth Webber and Ric Lansing, with the latter insisting on reporting Alexis to the police, despite Elizabeth harboring doubts about Alexis's culpability in the murder.

Evidence of Ric's ulterior motives in his treatment of Alexis comes from the differing testimony he gave to the police compared to Elizabeth Webber.

While Elizabeth made it clear that she didn't believe Alexis was Jagger's murderer, Ric stayed behind after she left, and deliberately mentioned to the police a prior death Alexis was responsible for. He also mentioned Alexis just getting her law license back, indicating that he wanted to sabotage her career.

A reason as to why he is coming for her could be their prior complicated relationship. Given their history and Alexis' past actions, Lansing has both the motive and information he needs to make her life difficult.

Ric Lansing and Alexis have prior history on General Hospital

One reason Ric Lansing might be pursuing a vendetta against Alexis is the fact that Ric has a prior romantic history with her. The two began a romance on General Hospital during the soap's 2005 run, with Ric dating her after she left Sonny.

The two would eventually get married, and Ric would become a new father figure to Alexis' daughter, Kristina. However, Ric proved to be unfaithful after Alexis became pregnant with his child, having an affair with Reese Marshall until she perished in a train crash. After this point, he reconciled with Alexis, and their daughter, Molly Lansing, was born in November 2005.

Ric also helped Alexis discover that Sam McCall was her daughter, but eventually, the relationship between Ric and Alexis began to deteriorate. Ric went on to have an affair with none other than Sam herself, something Alexis came to know about upon discovering Ric and Sam in bed together.

This catastrophic discovery led to Ric Lansing and Alexis Davis divorcing each other in December 2006. Ric's eagerness to tarnish Alexis' life the moment he has the chance suggests there may still be lingering bitterness from his end, even after all these years.

Lansing knows about Alexis's past skeletons

When trying to manipulate the police against Alexis, Ric brought up the fact that Alexis had already killed someone before, which was true with regard to Kiefer.

Alexis's daughter, Kristina, had dated an abusive boyfriend named Kiefer Bauer during General Hospital's run from 2009-2010. Kiefer had been a controlling, manipulative boyfriend from the beginning, and had tried to isolate Kristina from Sonny Corinthos because of his dislike for the man.

He would later escalate his abuse to physical violence after Kristina tried to leave him for Ethan Lovett, causing him to physically beat her up and pressure her into framing Ethan for the abuse.

Unfortunately for Kiefer, Sonny's enforcer Jason Morgan didn't buy this story. When Kristina refused to go along with Kiefer's demands anymore, he physically assaulted her. Alexis then intervened and took Kristina to the hospital, and while driving her there, she ran Kiefer over, resulting in his death after being admitted to General Hospital.

Alexis was never prosecuted for the murder, despite Kiefer's father, Warren, pursuing a vengeful vendetta against her. However, given Ric Lansing's willingness to bring up her past against her, it's possible that the police might look at Alexis in a different light if she's successfully implicated in a second death.
